As long as they’ll hold the weight that’s all that matters imo. Casters are more important to me than the material of the shelf. Being able to just move the shelves to the side and sweep/dust/mop without a hassle is nice

Haha okey then! Yeah, its my first time doing 1:4. The wait time Its killing me man.
Ill try to stop looking for a few days.

Fuck plastic
I agree. But if you hope it to last many years to come you should consider that steel could rust in high humidity enviroments, it should hold up quite a bit though

I use both. Perks of hodge podge supply gathering on Craigslist. Currently my steel shelves house my ffu, master bags, and agar supplies, and my other steel shelf is about to get repurposed as a big dehydrator using insulation board to house it. My plastic shelves hold my colonizing bags of grain spawn, and currently still running my tubs stacked because of space concerns. I feel like I've squeezed a lot into a small room.
If I was buying everything new? Steel shelves for sure.

I use the plastic shelves. However, if the dimensions are the exact same, the steel shelf will actually have more shelf space because the metal poles that hold the unit up aren't as wide as the poles on the plastic shelf.

Do you guys think a 24 on 24 off light cycle would be bad? Reason being, I am only able to check my tubs once a day, and they have led puck lights in them

Thanks for that. It has been 5 days and I am seeing real good growth with the mycelium. I will wait an extra couple more days and then see how I go with the syringe

If you have to light in cycles i wud go 12/12. Or you cud move your leds to outside the tub off the surface so as to not build up heat, if thats your concern. Otherwise im confused as to what the issue wud be. You can light them bitches 24/7, they love that shit.
And yeah, fuck plastic shelving. I dnt thnk rust is an issue. You cud jst rub myriadic* acid on it to remove the rust in seconds, wash the acid off with acetone (will rust immediately with water after using acid), let it evaporate then coat with a clear sealer. Rust problem solved forever.

I've just cloned my first fruit that I'm actually excited to see grow in the future. A beautiful monster (comparatively, probably less than 30gs wet lol but big based on my limited experience) that was part of a nice cluster. If I grow a canopy of identical fruits I'll be hard for days.
I'm considering breaking covid rules and flying to wherever P9 is, kidnapping him and forcing him at gun point to get my grains right so I don't fuck it up.
Slight exaggeration, but I'm pretty hyped to see what happens with this one.

Steel shelves: casters, footprint efficiency, sturdy
Plastic: cheap, works.
I like the steel shelves nainly because i can fit 3 totes per shelf instead of 1. Also in an area with alot of earthquakes plastic would be fucked. Theyre tippy if not against the wall and they crack pretty easily

This shits spreading across the US super fast now.
Started with Denver, then Oakland and Santa Cruz, now there are places in Massachusetts, Michigan, and beyond. We'll be at a dozen very soon, and climbing. This is going to be MUCH faster than weed was. Woot-WOOT!

Thanks to all who responded to my post about the shelves.
@Bendito, It's cool to see this moving along, although, I feel it'll be a very long time before people are able to "legally" grow their own.
Seems it'll be restricted to therapy centers and general decriminalization for awhile, which is cool.
I can grow 12 plants of flower in Michigan with no worries, I wonder when I'll be able to say the same about Mushrooms...

Im such a fucking pessimist. I see shit like this and thnk yeah but i dnt thnk we're careening towards that crystal day of the cops FUCKING OFF or a shift in herd mentality dissolving paranoia and fear. I guess im not a fan of how cannabis decriminalization turned into rape the druggos for 20%, and have another 37 laws, rules, and regulations up your ass. That shit blew my mind and still does. Idk. I dnt have popular opinions about humanity. Almost makes me not want to continue mycology.

I'm here to cultivate mush and grow positivity in my community.
That said holy shit did I run into some contamination. Thinking a month of half assed work matched with new lower quality coir really just fucked up my February quota.

Paying $50 for an eighth of shit I didn’t know what it was, and risking jail time was definitely not better than legalization. Pretty easy to get a medical card and/or care taker card and you don’t have to pay the 20%. Keeping innocent ppl out of jail is worth it alone imo.

I'm thinking I may need to go back to bucket tek and add verm to this coir. Spawn quality aside this stuff has some plastic and seeds but more important is the fiber difference. The Botanicare cocogro is double sieved long fiber. These mother nature blocks is very dusty and doesn't absorb water anywhere near as readily. Cocogro blocks suck up hot water wster and expand immediately. I have had to manually deconstruct these blocks before adding hot water then massaging. I'm not blaming the coir entirely, but I think my subs are wet and the sketchier spawn is showing badly.

I’ve definitely noticed differences in production with lower quality coir. Big fan of coco bliss.. has a nice texture that’s kind of like tiny cubes.. which in itself makes me want to grow cubes with it
