@ Hazyhorse, see the spots in both pictures where the grains look like they are in a wet bubble area. That is bacterial contamination, and probably what caused your wedge to stall out in the top picture. They might still produce, let them fully colonize, or give the bottom one a shake and see how well it recovers.

AKA has been killing it this last year. :cheer:

Looks like you got perfect beads of moisture on your surface. Are you allowing evaporation to happen? I kinda forget if you increase FAE after getting knots or if you can do it now. Looks super white and right though.

Just a FYI and totally random, don't you guys waste your time pasteurizing for a second time slightly smelly peat that has been sitting for way over a month. I did the test for you, just start over.

Wait so if you prep casing then let it sit and get slightly funky re pasteurizing doesn’t make it good again?

I guess that’s another advantage of ultra dry climate. I just used some I had left in a bag for like two months that was totally dry. I didn’t even check just sprinkled it on and hit it with the mister and it ran perfectly.

Damn moisture ruining everything  :publicfart:

Thanks for the feedback! yeah... I believe i'm allowing evaporation to happen, theres quite a bit of FAE, but its also true that there have been an increasingly amount of beads maybe theres not enough evaporation..

Its not super white though, there are some brownish spots here and there in the mycelium due to some sort of bacterial contamination. the photo just doesnt get to capture it enough.

I'll try increasing FAE and see what happens

Posting this here in case you guys can tell me whatsup . . .

The fruits it produces look kinda miserable.

First, some information:

  • They are being lit with a 20w CFL 6500 K lamp right above their heads
  • Mono is a 22 Quart unmodified Tub
  • 1 Brick of coir, 2 Qts Vermiculite and 4 Qts of water (It was kinda over field capacity but not soggy)
  • Spawn was clean and substrate colonized within 7 days
  • This grow is from a clone
  • The green/yellow patch you may observe to the sides is from it drying out (I started out with filtered holes then switched to unmodified setup as the air exchange was too high around the holes)
  • Room RH is ~40%
  • Spawn ratio 1:4
  • Temps at 75f

Ok, so yesterday, this is what the fruits looked like

Here is what they look like today

So my problem is, a lot of the fruits don't seem to make it, many aborts and many fail to grow and seem to abort mid way, dropping to their side, some caps got funny shapes and many look grayish or simply put, unhealthy.

An example of this

This little guy has bruised around the cap and leans to the side like its exhausted.

This little guy looks downright sickly

I've been misting lightly because I suspected that they might lose excessive water. But I am just not sure. I got a sparse pinset with this run but surface conditions were perfect before pinning (With the esception of the dried spots below the holes). This has been a disappointing flush, the fruits dont seem to enjoy their environment. I have no clue as of why.

My Averys, the same genetics I've been cultivating from the same master for over five months now have now begun to drop purple/black spore.
Never before have they done this, same master culture as my signature pictures.

Not impressed.

That tub looks really good to me. I think your a few days from pins. I would increase FAE a bit. Did you say you went 1:4? That may be why it's just chilling and hasn't decided to reproduce yet. You are giving perfect colonization conditions.

You want go wait til it’s colonized the lc enough. The earliest I’ll do is 5 days but 7-10 is much better.

Does anyone care to chime in on why they prefer the steel shelves over plastic?

They both hold plenty of weight.

My guess is some prefer the stability of the steel shelves and the ease of cleaning.

I've seen older pics of PirateSwazey's setup and he was rocking the plastic shelves. Seems like everyone is rocking steel these days besides a few.
