I have some shoeboxes with no top layer that are close to full colonisation as I was following a tek without, but as you guys have mainly all recommended adding one in the future I wondered if it is best to let these ones continue without and see what happens or to add one now?
I have 5 more I did afterwards that do have a top layer of coir (1 qt spread over each tub)

Cool, purely for experimentation I guess it's best I leave them as I have 5 others with top layers on their way now.

Been struggling to source bulk hardwood chips for a cyan patch I'm putting together this year... looks like I found my solution. 40' oak limb broke off in my yard last night.

There are some apps you can download to sign up for free woodchips by the dump truck load. Most tree removal or landscaping places would be happy to drop them off for free because they usually have to pay to dispose of them. Just make sure you have enough space for a whole truck load, it is a Shit ton of woodchips.

I've looked into that, but they don't let you specify what kind of wood you want. There's a lot of soft wood around here and I'd hate to end up with a bunch of chips that cyans won't eat. I know they're not too picky though. I've used doug fir sawdust to expand cyans in the past.

I thought it didn’t matter as much if you let the woodchips age outside a little bit to get the resins or whatever out? I better double check just to be sure before I sign up
Careful with that tree if it’s close to anything important, looks like there might be some rot or something where that break happened. Not an expert so take it with a grain of salt

Yeah I've been on the phone trying to get a quote from arborists all day. After this ice storm I'm sure they'll all be booked for weeks. Might have to go pick up a chainsaw.

When you choose a print candidate do you usually wait for it to almost flatten out and have dropped spores for a while already? How long does a fruit actually drop spores for? I have one I'm going to use but I don't think it will start dropping spores tonight but by the morning I expect it will be have already been sporulating for hours, is that too late?
Judging by the caps in the teks I've seen they look like they've been open and dropping for a good while before being cut but I couldn't see it stated anywhere.

First off, print as much as you can. Seriously. Tin foil is cheap. Shitty spore syringes are expensive. Even if you dont know what to do with all the spores, you'll have them for later trading or grows or whatever... Secondly, caps will drop billions of spores... ive made 8 prints off a single cap, all clean, all dark enough to be worthy of sale. It only takes about 4 hours to make a decent print. And lastly, seriously, print everything...

When you have two trade ratings you can do The free spore print thread and they post a post and you give up something in return for the next poster. It’s super neat because you can get some pretty cool spores. It’s like trading but you offer up something you have and the person bellow you picks it and offers up what they got to the person bellow them. You can also do giveaway’s in the market place to get your trade ratings. Or ask around..

The free wood thing is great if you have space. Problem is they can come dump whenever and as often as they want, and sometimes it’s like tons of wood chips.
It would be nice if you could sign up but set a max load size.

I got space so long as I stay busy. Guess I'd have to hire some hands, but that's not such a bad thing as long as the wood keeps coming. If I can buy this lot next door then I could set up a wonderful lil mush farm. They just mow like 3 acres and it's not adjacent to the family's yard. Is so well graded though, so much room for activities!

Could someone just take a look on those Agar-plates ? Five out of 10 Transfer-plates/Plates opened in this SAB-session show germination like this. Means I have germination on the old plates and also on the new ones - Before everything was looking clean.

Could it be just also Cubensis-Mycelium - Idk, because a bit of water took tiny pieces of myc to other spots? It looks same like my Plates with Multispore inoculation when I had water flowing a bit around spreading all the spores around - but most of these plates are clone-plates - But I made clones from the caps - could it be just spores which were in the tissue of the cap I used to clone?
I hope its not mold - If its mold I think I have a problem in my Apartment then, that would be a crazy increase of fails in my SAB-Work since I have restarted shrooming. Had a MonoTub getting Moldy after third flush around one week ago (with trich) - But I have tossed everything instantly and the Tub is still outside the house - And the trich was still white, so it shouldnt have sporulated.
But if the scenario is correct, all these plates are contaminated by mold-spores because of increased amount of spores in my house (because of a failed grow) - What could I do to fix this as fast as possible? Wanted to do around 35 jars in the next days when my masters are ready. But under this circumstance I would just ruin my spawn and waste all my masters+rye+maybe cvg (and time)

Sup with peanuts in WBS? Never noticed that b4. Thnk i'll formulate me own wbs. Get some sunflower seeds, sorghum... Wait, wat else wud i blend in? Dnt wish to deal with white millet. Them little bastards get in the lid/ring assembly and cause vexation. What about corn bits? If jimmy cracks corn, shud i care? I assume peanut bits are out. What else cud i put in there?

Sorghum milo and millet is what I’d use. Sunflower shells are decent too.
I’d stay away from corn and peanuts.
Sometimes I pour extra millet into my wbs just to juice it up.
