I am thinking of "casing" with a layer of coir AFTER the 1st flush. Would that be advisable or I risk contamination? (Cant see how as coir is resistant to stuff germinating on it but doesnt hurt to ask)

My mister damaged the mycelium and I want the moisture retention that a top layer would provide.
Would that work?

As for hispanica I've been messing with it for about 6 months and having a lot of difficulties what I believe is probably genetically because ever culture I get that looks halfway decent slows to a halt on grain and on bulk. I'm still trying though. Hopefully one day I can get some different genetics on the plates though. What did you want to know?
Sucks to know. Some old posts claimed they were a easier exotic (workman, Rockefeller)
4 months no fruits from serbica .. did you try to fruit Hispanica ? Did it fail to produce a decent plate?

Probably not if they were dried with heat but you could take some gill fragments to agar in the hopes of germinating spores

Heeellllpppp???
Thx
You can try cutting out the section with trich growing and using iso in the hole to prevent it from coming back. I've done that with about 50% success. It doesn't get rid of all of it, the trich WILL come back, but it can buy you some time to salvage a flush. Obviously the sooner you catch it the better, but if you cut down into the sub and see that it's trich all the way through, it's trashed.

Shouldn't be a problem, other than maybe giving you a slight panic attack when the myc first pops through the sub and you think it's the mean green
Thanks!
I got some shower mold killer spray and blasted the area with it haha today it seems all dead I'm gonna let the area also dry out with the lid off all day while keeping the healthy area moist. If that doesn't work I'll get the surgeon kit on and start cutting! The healthy area has hundreds of pins coming up so I think there's hope for some more gains

The pins are not anywhere near the spot I sprayed. I doubt the substrate will absorb any of it, as its all dry and evaporated off fairly quickly, it just killed the green patch on the surface.
I'll wash any fruits then after dehydration should be a non issue. Healthier than a cigarette lol

Hopefully they are all intended for your personal consumption...
That would not be cool otherwise. I'd be upset if I unknowingly ate some these...
Your substrates are much more absorbent than you are giving them credit for, and will distribute the good with the bad to your end product when you introduce anything extra like this.
Maybe I care about such trivial things, like one's health, or consuming toxic chemicals more than some.
I don't smoke cigarettes either.
Just sayin'...

🤦🏻♂️you dont kill trich with any of that shit and u sure as fuck dont get rid of it by cutting it out. the way u get rid of it is by always making sure practice good sterile technique and obtain and use clean spawn. by the time u even see trich its already completely through the entire substrate. id review your sterile work process and take the proper measures to ensure ur spawn is clean in the future

Yeah I know all that. I'm just trying to save anything I can for the 2nd flush. Got a good 4oz dry off the 1st flush its not a wasted tub at least. Its looking like 50% of the sub is gonna fruit again! If I can stop the green mold from shooting spores out and still get another OZ off the thing I'm happy. Fuck just throwing it out when I can see hundreds of healthy pins fighting the good fight! Can't give up on the little dudes!
