is this how you do your wheat
that's what I was doing but they were starchy, i like just dumping stuff into my kettle and boiling, I don't like pre-cleaning. gotta cook a bag today and was planning on hosing them off before boiling but might skip it

if they are coated in that bran, its a good idea to rinse them off 1st That is how I prepped wheat before, pretty much following Nates: Dawgy Style Wheat Prep: A simple comprehensive guide

I stopped soaking. Bring to a boil and its usually done in 5-10 min.
Lotkid and filthyknees both no longer soak Rye.

Prep is very simple ime: Bring water with grain to 200°F, boil until you can push your nail through the grain with ease. Drain Strain (check with TP test if you're new) Load.

I'm not digging wheat. I prepped oats and wheat and G2G a quart of PE to both, and oats are kicking wheats ass. I followed that wheat prep. Is it just because my colonized grain was oats or what?

I have always put a top layer on shoes, minis, and monos. Just because that was the norm when I started and I never changed. Is there a potential downside to doing so?

Because bods teks were the first I ever read I haven't used liners or top layers but feel I probably should. I spawned some boxes a couple of days ago. I can add a top layer now right? I have coir, verm and gypsum, shall I go CVG or just coir?

I pretty much learned from the bod bible too but I really recommend the top layer and liner. I only started with liners 6 months ago and they are wicked!

Most of the teks were made before top layering was common so it’s not included. I love top layers they’re like a miracle in super dry areas.

Is there any point in casing APE? My first APE tub is colonizing and I've read APE doesn't really need them the way PE does. Got all the ingredients but is it just a waste of time?

I never found a need, tried it. I didn't notice a difference in yield. I only use it on my PE.
