Not that I don't believe what you are saying is true. But I think to remove any doubt about this, atleast in my mind, I am going to run this same culture but use 2.5 qts of spawn instead of 3 qts. I want to see if it has any affect on yield and BE.

Surface area could definitely affect your yield per quart on the first flush. If you used cased grain in a shoebox you could prob fit 3 quarts of spawn, and there’s absolutely no way you’re pulling 5oz off a shoebox in one flush even if you kept bottom watering it, outside of some freak miracle culture that packs thick tall solid shrooms all over every inch.
That’s an extreme example but I do think there’s a little bit of an art to balancing spawn/sub/surface size ratios. And that’s all assuming you’ve got a good culture and good conditions.

Those are definitely the 3 most important factors, imo. If any one of those are missing from the equation then you'll have diminished returns.
Sufficient water, Sufficient fruiting surface, Efficient culture.
You need the water reservoir, so a decently sized substrate like a 66qt mono, Enough surface area for your culture to spread, and a culture that will efficiently take advantage of the surface area and efficientlytransportwater from the sub to the fruit.
Appropriate conditions assumed as a baseline.

I guess if I am getting wall to wall canopies, the culture cannot be all that bad and the environmental conditions must be well dialed in. I don't intend to change tub size. So the only other variable that I can really play with at the moment would be spawn/sub ratios. For better or for worse, I will come back in a couple weeks with an update on the results of cutting back on the spawn used per tub. Everything else will stay the same.
Just to make it clear, I am not expecting to increase my yield per tub, just the BE. As I don't see any point in using more spawn than I need to get the same results.
Thank you, all.

Ya the clusters are nicely spaced. Hopefully another slant candidate. 13 days to pin too.

Got a rest of CVG over from Monday, can I just use it now without doing more then mixing it with Spawn?

As long as you kept the lid on and it didn’t dry out it should be okay to use.

I've left hydrated coir\verm in bucket tek stasis for well over a week. It'll be fine.

Perfect, its the whole time in a closed Box.
I'll need to add another brick of coir to it to get enough for the coming tubs. So I'll just check the fieldcapacity after this and maybe add a bit more water if necessary

I would personally prep another brick of coir in a separate bucket then combine once hydrated.

Back pain kept me up most of the night so I spent a lot of time crawling through posts on here. Holy shit..... I just...... I love this place. Haha My is showing again but there is definitely a lot more "youtube said to..." or "reddit told me...." than there used to be but man the amount of positive people willing to learn and willing to teach and sincerely caring for people they have never met is just awesome! I mean there is that guy that said "waste is good" and encouraged people to throw things away needlessly but for the most part, I love this place.

Yeah this place is great, a lot of real people, not many egos and the generosity of people to spend time helping and even giving stuff away is amazing. If I get to the point when I can add to it I definitely will. At the moment I'm just looking out for questions I've already asked or seen answered from other new people and directing them so the pros don't have to repeat themselves so often.

Definitely. I always try to stress that kibspeak from a place of anecdotes and experience, not empirical evidence or absolutes and if ever I contradict a TC or someone more knowledgeable it is not to challenge or oppose them and our statements should be weighted to reflect that. I just absolutely love learning and assume everyone else does too so if ever I have a chance to help them do so I am more than happy to.
