Is anyone else doing agar to bags? I've never tried. Just put an entire plate of an aggressive toc clone to a bag of millet. We'll see how it turns out.

I do slurry to bags, takes 7 days for full colonization. Like 1/4 PF cake per bag.

I do agar slurry to bags. 1 agar plate to ~300mL water to 10 bags
I've done agar wedges to bags but it takes a while, if I'm doing it that way I prefer to do agar to jars and then g2g to bags. The slurry method works well for me though and it really stretches a plate out.

been doing a little bit lately, but bag 2 bag transfers scare me, and so I get more spawn per plate if I instead do agar -> quart -> 10x quarts -> 20+ bags. if i could overcome my fear of b2b, i'd probably give my jars away, though

My intention is to remove the grain master "middle man" for gtg, if I do slurry I'm just swapping middle men. I know that it's done with Pleurotus but that's a different beast. My bag will probably just take forever to colonize. I should really get my LC success rate up to snuff.
@shadows...yeah thats a good idea, I don't have a blender set up anymore but maybe I'll try some blenderless LI.

I'll be doing som b2b once my new sealer arrives. I want to wait until I can pour from a spout cut up by where the seal was made. I'm also hesitant to b2b with a fully opened bag.

i recently bought one of these for blenderless:

overkill, yes, but if you've ever poured from a mason jar you know it's contam vector when it drips down those threads. the mouth on these is just about as big as a wide mouth mason jar, just a hair smaller. can still drop whole plates in. im planning on installing an oster blade on the lid when i get around to it. im in the same boat as you, starting to get annoyed at my master middle men but my LCs always ruin my month.
i imagine you got the AIE-305 sealer? I kinda wish I had gotten the 405 so I could seal without folding the gussets, little more consistent that way i'd think, plus bigger plenum. my bags are a different material than most though, they fail the squeeze test a little too often for my liking. hope you got your yours somewhere cheaper than amazon too, i paid like $180 on pack secure vs 250 on amazon

Yeah I've got a bunch of those borosilicate media bottles. I bought the 16" AIE so that I can straight seal XLS bags.

nice dude! that's the one I wish I had gotten. most people here use the 305 instead. and the bottles I posted are actually wide mouth, not your usual GL45 narrow neck, but they've still got the drip-free ring. the leftmost jar in the pic is a 1L jar, for example (that's the one I got). so i can take a whole 90mm plate and drop it right in
curious how ergonomic it'll feel working with XLS bags in front of your 2'x4' hood too. Myers says it's awkward but he's also a flowhood salesmen
eidt: i guess even if it is awkward, you could always just elevate your flowhood so the XLS bag isn't nearly poking out the top into unfiltered air.. or have like a trap door kinda compartment for XLS bags that they drop into

Lol, he certainly is...
I didn't notice the large mouth. I'll cut up a plate and try some LI in my media bottles tomorrow.

A buddy of mine does with great results, he puts 2 plates per bag.

or also called LI, right? Is it okay to use 30ml of LI for a bag? Some in the past have warned against using a ton of watery inoculant.

Just to throw in here: I did agar to bags a while back when I first tried working with bags. I don't think I put enough in each bag so they took way too long. I'm sure it would be a viable option if done correctly.

I feel like just doing A2G with a jar, then the jar to bag would be more effective. Does add an extra step but faster full colonization of jar then you have a lot more inoculation points for your bag.

Yup, well Melmac anyways. I'm liking them that's for sure, can get some decent weight off of them with super low spawn amounts and I can get 10 per monotub, goal is a zip dry per mini-tub with the clones I've got on agar.
