KSS and UFO are stabilized varieties, peyote is the result of intentionally inducing a mutation (via UV or whatever, on page 7 of that thread linked) onto a particular KSS culture, it's traits aren't necessarily going to be passed on genetically

I'm interested to talk genetics.
Was this an isolate that just happened to produced mutants naturally by luck of the draw or did you come across a mutant, clone it to agar and isolate all strains within and test them to find the mutated sub strain?
Peyote strain was a isolate from KSSS that showed interesting characteristics and high potency. The isolate was mutated via UV induced dimerization of the thymine bases located in the #3 chromosome.
Here's what the peyote strain looked like BEFORE induced mutation

They are pp5 bags with a thickness of 50 microns. So they should hold up nicely in a PC.

Schemenhaft said: I harvested my MonoTub yesterday - Made those without a liner, don't ask me why. I harvested in the way to tape all holes and fill the box with water.
Now I have the problem that there are small amounts of water on the bottom because I was not able to take out the cake and dry it a bit. This water on the bottom will be a big problem for bacteria I think. Any ideas what to do? I am very unsure I am able to get out the cake without damaging or breaking it in two parts.
A bit of water isn't going to be a problem if the tub is healthy but if it bothers you too much you can put an empty tub inside that one, flip both over, remove the original tub and then use a paper towel to soak up the water. Since I'm pretty sure I explained myself with my ass here you have a couple pics so you can see what I mean.

Also good for harvesting bottom or side shrooms if you get them.
Floating a sub in a tub with holes was an outrageous mess for me the couple times I did it, would rather endure the pain of having to harvest normally.
Whats going on in the first picture? I am having the same issue and wold like to know how to prevent this.
PE blobs. The spawn was a little bacterial for this tub and it was the only one that blobbed too, it might be a mere correlation but it's not the first time I see cultures reacting in a similar fashion to bacterial spawn. Not a single blob with healthier spawn from the same culture in other tubs. Just an observation, don't take this as if I was saying the only cause of blobs is bacterial spawn because that's simply not true.

Maybe an odd question but has anyone had myc freeze on a plate? I have a GT T1 that was looking great, I took some T2s from it and suddenly growth stalled for a few days, myc that was there now looks sorta deflated and dead. Growth is just starting up again after transfers were taken on 0120.
SAB work was done in a garage in the middle of winter. I did leave them out there for a couple hours at most but not over night. The only plate to show this issue was my GT T1 plate. After transferring, I left the plates stacked on a stack of 12x12 tiles that were sitting on a concrete floor of an unheated, uninsulated garage in a zone 6 winter. I'm thinking maybe that GT plate was the bottom of the stack and the tiles acting as a massive heat sink or antigriddle just kinda flash froze them shits.
Only other thing I can think of that would have affected only one plate is that sometimes I can be impatient after ISOing my hands. They aren't dripping but could the vapor coming from my gloves after washing with iso be enough to almost wipe out the plate? The T2s I took from it seem to be doing okay. Any ideas?

Where I live I can get 16oz of 70% iso for a dollar. So you'd think a gallon of 70%, which contains the equivalent of 8 16oz containers, would be $8. Maybe $7 so I'm motivated. But it's $40!!!!!!!!!! WTF.
Even online, same prices. what's the deal?

You could switch to bags which would be more grain per cycle but less total spawn bags. It could work if you're working with the same culture. But other than that, no idea

You could get something like an All American 941 or 75x, which can fit like 19 jars iirc. There's one for sale (941) in the marketplace right now for $550+shipping. But I'd learn bags before upgrading PCs, you can fit like twice as much grain in with a bag.

I've never fit 19 jars in my 75x's. Just 15.
Never had a 941 though so can't speak to that.
Bags for the win. Fuck shaking hundreds of jars, I'll never do that again.
I regularly fit 40 pounds of grain in a 75x no problem.
1 50 pound bag of oats hydrated turns into 80-82 pounds of grain bags (20 of them) so with two 75x's I can do 40 four pound bags every day.

Yeah, iso prices are fucking dumb. I can get a quart for just over two bucks but a gallon jug at the farm store is 25 bucks.

20 jars. A.941 will hold. Even managed to get 21 in there before. Super tight fit on the top trivet tho with 11 instead of 10

my issue with bags is now you have an additional cost., and yes it will make a difference with the amount of grain i need per day. but i might check into them if i can find them cheaper then a 1.00 a bag id be ok so far in canada i havent found them for cheaper then 1.00 a bag in bulk orders

Jars are free to reuse, but is your time and physical effort expended not worth something to you?
It makes or breaks what techniques I adopt.
You can fit 4-6 bags usually depending on how full they are in a 23qt presto.
What model do you have that is 21qt?
