I seldom look at social media other than ig because I have an amazing camera and serious photography hobby, addiction wte. Facebook is full of people I moved 600 miles away to get away from. And getting hit up for online sale of schedule 1 substances. Not today fed lol.

If not for this forum I'd never would have gotten so far. I combed this forum forever. I still have a million questions and insecurities about this or that. And I admit mistakes or screw up. People on social media don't seem to have that quality. We all fuck up and make mistakes. I don't judge humans for much but that is one thing I can't handle. Or assholes who tell you they've never had contaminants....OK so you just started? Or 20 pounds of shit in a ten pound bag?

I posted some pics on reddit and everybody started treating me like a god or somethin. The post received multiple awards and everybody was asking me how I was doing it. I explained that I'm still new as hell and learning every day. I linked some teks and everybody turned against me saying that shroomery is nothing but bigots and people with big egos. I said those bigots are the ones teaching me and all of a sudden I was an enemy. Aight, I'ma show myself out.

I think I saw your post not long ago. Reddit is another cesspool. Nazis and neoliberals all converging into a pit of useless. And all these platforms could be a way to unite people. I think I've interacted once on reddit. Some dirty ass technique and special brf mix. Bee pollen and flax seed and other expensive useless shit. But no gypsum. I said that's the only additive to brf you will benefit from. Never checked response

So, here's the deal.
My jar is contaminated from cobweb in the lower part. In the upper part there is a lump of cube mycelium 1 inch in radius. White and looking healthy. I shook it apart from the rest of rye grain, and now that lump is free, and it is one solid piece.
Cobweb contamination did not get to it.

So, the questions are:

1. Could i open the jar, take that lump and try g2g ? Will i transmit cobweb somehow to the new jar ?
2. Could i just spawn that one lump to less bulk substrate, will it contaminate ?
3. Does anybody know anything about using mycelium from fungal contaminated jars ?
Is it even possible, cobweb spores are probably everywhere in the jar now.

Renegade, I definitely wouldn't g2g that dude. If its clumping theres a chance it's bacterial too. I suppose you could try take a myc covered grain to agar and clean it up that way but probably easier to nocc up a new jar if you can.

I still don't understand how you can be in a group on fb for growing drugs... I can't believe zuck isn't at least tracking those profiles... ive been off fb for almost 2 years now... best thing I've done in a long time... never even started any of the other social medias... im not very social in general...

I do love how the shroomery is kinda trial by fire... most people here don't mince words, they tell you how it is... I like that straight forward kinda attitude. But at the same time most people have enough humility to say "this is what works for me, do what works for you" instead of some hardline crap like "this is the only way to produce X"...

I told someone using unnecessary materials (flax seed and random shit as ivey mentioned) was a waste of money. Was immediately attacked for, to paraphrase, being too poor to matter and living in a third world country. Personally, I don't care what anyone thinks of my social status or where I live. I DO care that to so many people wasting money and resources is seen as a status symbol. I just can't stand that mentality. I am a bit confused honestly as to how someone can participate in this hobby and still hold that mindset.
A friend of mine who remains in the FB group for laughs recently sent me a pic of someone using a desk fan to "air out" their top fruiting pf jars. So i guess at least there is some comic relief to be found there.

I wouldn't. Bury it and hope for spring surprises. If you get bad contamination it can take months to get back on track. If it is bad in the jar you don't have much time invested yet. Make up new spawn and look at lids for problems or what might have happened during inoculation

The cobweb got to it whether you see it or not. You could attempt cleaning on agar, but it'll be faster to just restart. You probably made an agar or sterile tek mistake to start with, so cleaning an enmeshed mold is probably not the route you want right now.

misogyny and toxicity in the mushcult community, now thatโ€™s a niche audience

I donโ€™t really go anywhere else but Iโ€™d say shroomery is pretty solid in all aspects. The only discrimination Iโ€™ve seen is against morons. Now thirsty ass fools chasing accounts with names like โ€œdeepthroatbeckyโ€ on the other hand....

Its unfortunate but off this platform it seems others dont handle the straightforward attitude nearly as well.

It's difficult but when i help i dont want you to be a robot and just do. I want you to understand what your doing and why your doing it. So i automatically come off as a dick.

I almost redundant because I do it so much, and not just here but truly all aspects of life, but I try to add disclaimers of sorts to my advice. I am the definition of "jack of all trades, master of none" so I try to stress that when I give advice based on personal experience that it is just that. Personal experience and not canonized procedure or knowledge. I do a lot of weird shit that works for my circumstance and am happy to share all I've learned but don't want to come off as saying that I "know" the "correct" way. Especially on here. I've been helped so much in many ways by so many people here and I want to give back. I want to help take some of the newb question load off the TCs and OGs but also try to emphasize that I am still learning and if anyone more knowledgeable than me contradicts what I say, their advice should be given more weight.
I truly love learning and love helping others learn almost as much. So it's frustration when confronted with someone that does want to learn from the information given to them.

damn, I must have missed that part. I was around for mea culpa though and that shit was definitely entertaining for a bit, but I wonder how much damage they did to the collective knowledge of new cultivators.
