I also like to smoke on my corncob a bit before getting to work, glass of whiskey or coffee if it's in the a.m. and some herbs.

I'm not necessarily a fan of Joe Rogan in particular... I just like the premise of his show... its his show and he only talks to people he thinks are interesting... I respect that... id do the same thing in his shoes... I am pretty pissed that I paid for Spotify so I could keep up with them and even paying for Spotify it has ads... gotta skip through all that bullshit.

@ natedawgnow- I have I have a Gandalf-eque tobacco pipe that I usually keep burning off to the side during SAB sessions and cup of some combination of coffee/kratom/fruits. Usually have to take breaks for my back so I'll hit the dugout during break. If I time it right, I can finish SAB work right as the fruits really start to take hold.
@ivey77- haha, that was close to happening. Noticed myself almost nodding out over the SAB listening to some personalityless voice drone on about philosophy and shit. And yeah that was my issue with JRE, it's just a lot of one liners teetering on the verge of depth but never actually getting there, followed by some "woke frat boy" rhetoric. meh, to each their own though I suppose. Not trying to talk anyone out of it.
@roarkell- for sure. It's his thing and he appears to be doing it. Part of it too is the bad taste left in my mouth from some of the people that follow him. There is definitely a cult following/hero worship that he (intentionally or otherwise) has fostered and carries. A lot of guests asserting things that should be researched further but so many people take it as truth because of where they heard it. I admit I'm a bit of a hipster when it comes to shit like that.

I broke my neck and back, 5 destroyed discs and multi level cervical fusion as well as fractured skull with 70 staples 2 years ago. I use kratom a lot. I have a script for soma and tramadol. But sometimes kratom and soma work better. I also grow 2 or 3 Afghan poppies each season. Keep it for extreme pain of the winter months. I don't care for the sedative effects of poppy but it will work if it gets really bad.

I actually swapped out the stem on mine recently for a longer one. I make all my own pipes and the stems are made from rose stalks.

If youre a fan of pipe smoking I highly recommend a corncob. I have a couple briar pipes and they fucking suck to smoke in comparison.
What kind of tobacco you puffin on?

You wont find a tek for the rose stalks, that is something I came up with as I had a rose bush and a need of stem material they work really well though.
I've also used hemp stalk which works but needs to be sealed. I've thought about selling some of the ones I've made. My buddy who is a huge pipe smoker said my corncob was the best pipe he's ever hit.

Fucking same! (kinda). Fucked my back up bad. Couldn't walk for 3 months. Took months for doctors to take me seriously and do an MRI, longer for surgery. Kratom and poppy pods are really the only things that keep me from being unable to walk/function most days. I lost my poppy garden when I last moved but have plenty of seeds. I really need to get some of those in the ground I suppose. Kinda off topic but I was thinking for trying to grow some hydro poppies. Do you have any experience with them in a hydro system?
@natedawgnow- that's pretty sweet man! I've carved a couple pipes while out'n'about camping. Just simple pieces. Split, carved out, and sealed with pine tar. Definitely something I should look more into. Right now I'm smoking some cheap shit but newminster is usually my go to. At first I hated any kind of flavored tobacco but it has grown on me on time.

This! I didn't realize when I first started trying pipe tobacco that the pipe itself would make such a huge difference. Way more than the difference between weed pipes.

Ya not a huge flan of any flavor but vanilla haha. I like a heavy cavendish mixed 2:1 with burl. Good stuff.
I got into pipe smoking cause I grew a nicotiana rustica and smoked it all in a matter of a week and fell in love with pipe smoking. Cigarettes are fucking nasty versions of tobacco but pipe tobacco is amazing.
I plan on growing a lot this year

@GypsyBastard- I agree with you, I'm not a fan of his due hard fans... and like you said, even his most intelligent guests tend to only scratch the surface... but I normally wouldn't even know those people's names if they hadn't been on his show... ill do my own research on the guests he has that are interesting to me... I know he's good friends with Ari Shaffir but I can't stand that dude... ill skip every podcast that he's on.

I have looked into it since I grow hydro cannabis. But as of yet I have been too busy. Between shrooms, cannabis, San Pedro and peyote. But I know you have to recreate a freeze to initiate germination. Vermiculite and sterile water in the fridge a day then freezer over night was one suggestion I saw from a grower.
I have some excellent genetics. I mail out once a month. When I do I can send a few. These are designed for production basically. Do well mostly being left the fuck alone other than making sure not too little water

ivey77- That would be awesome!! I actually have some seeds in coir, in net cups, that I was planning on starting and never got any further. For mostly the same reason. I have trichs, mushrooms, and hydro lettuce all working at the same time. Doesn't seem like it should be that damn hard to fit poppies in there somewhere too but evidently it is. I really need to get those set up though. If I can get them to germinate, I can put them in my greenhouse in some kratky tubs and forget about them until they're ready. These are just seeds I've harvested out of pods that I used so little bit of a crap shoot on genetics (though i've used the same source for years now) but I'm tired of talking about this in future tense. Need to just get motivated and do this shit.
Side note: Do you remember the great poppy famine of like '08-'10 era? Can't remember exactly what year but man I miss those days before that. 2lb of pods for like $40 or something like that.
nate- you happen to have any recommendations for pipe making groups/forums/reads? I'm pretty crafty and no stranger to woodworking but only pipes I've made were more of the bushcraft/primitive tek variety than anything I would consider pleasant to use regularly. Don't get more wrong, there nothing like finding a good stick to carve your own pipe to smoke the weed you grew while living in the forest but I would like to be better at making better pipes. I do some walking stick carvings and such so wouldn't be too much more to do some pipes. Of course I say this after having just said in the above passage that I can't seem to find time to add to my hobbies.... lol. This is why I have too many damn hobbies.

@gypsy- I dont really have any forums to recommend as I just one day decided that I wanted to make my own corncob and did it without looking it up or anything.
I can give you some tips about corncobs though. Regular sweet yellow corn wont work. Learned that the hard way their cobs are bred to be thin and small to make room for more kernels and you will likely burn right through the wall of one and burn your hand somethin fierce haha.
Go to hobby lobby and buy the red decorative corn, de kernel it, and use those cobs cause they are much much thicker and already dry. The inner core of a cob is pith and is easily removed with a file or or pick. Then I use a file to shape the bowl (I like hexagonal bowls). Make a plug out of a piece of cob to plug the hole on bottom, seal with a piece of paper and plaster of paris or TBII. Then just drill a hole above the plug to insert your stem. Be careful not to crack the cob when drilling the hole.
@mushhead- bro you can do it. I never thought I'd be where I am today. I always thought you had to be rich to do this but you absolutely do not. Just save up a few grand, apply for the right kind of loan, or even buy a bit of property in cash and build on it over years. Land can be had for 1k or less per acre in some areas.
