I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere that anything above like 95% will begin to dilute as soon as the seal of the container is broken.

Alcohol at 70% is much more effective than 99,5% at killing bacteria and microorganisms. You can dilute that with distilled water to get it at 70%.

I believe you have that backwards.
Iso alcohol over 91% forms an azeotrope with water where it essentially behaves like 1 molecule and not 1 molecule suspended within another. As alcohol over 91% evaporates, the water and alcohol evaporate at the same rate. So 99.5% alc will stay 99.5% alcahol until the last drop evaporates.
As soon as you dilute it to say 70% it loses it's azeotropic behavior and and the alcohol evaporates first then the water, getting weaker as it evaporates.

Or maybe azeotropic behavior happens at 91% so it will dilute til it hits 91 percent then it stops. I forget

My bags contaminate from just sitting on the shelf uninnoculated. I'm unsure what's causing this. I fold my bags like this (@ time 9:35)
I load them in my PC in a similar manner, but have had better luck when the bags face toward each other rather than away (opposite from Myers). They come out pretty good and vaccuumed now. I don't preseal or do the tyvek accordian stuff. I let them cool in front of the hood if I'm in a hurry, otherwise in the PC overnight. Does any of this sound wrong or off? Contams usually occur after sitting for 3+ weeks, so I believe it's occuring through imperfect vaccuums and diffusion over time but I'm not sure. I'm only letting them sit that long to test things out and debug (I'm also having problems with the bags I do inoculate, so in order to pinpoint the issue I'm starting here).
No way it's improper sterilization though as I'm using an AA25X ran at 20PSI for 2hrs (and yes, I do vent it) and no problems with uninnocculated grain jars.
...
If everything above sounds right, I believe my bags themselves may be the issue. They're off-brand, bought on craigslist secondhand but from a real myco store (I know the company, but the model of bag), and the material and filter is different (not like unicorns or most popular brands). I believe they may have been intended for sawdust despite what the ad said, but I'm checking my equipment and methods first.

I confess that while I didn’t watch the video, I don’t run bags over 17 psi because of the risk of pinholes.

personally i quit fuckin with bags at all. just cuz i have a way way higher contam rate. seems like 1 outta 5 bags would tam out and i literally have practically zero contam issues with jars. so i just only do jars anymore and il never even fuck with bags again most likely. especially while im only growin pans and in the place im at cuz i only am goin thru about 18-24 jars a year lately. i know for a fact tho that im nit the only 1 who has more a contam issue with bags vs jars

Nothing wrong with using jars.
I had a bad time with bags because I had no fuckin idea what I was doing to be honest.
The way I'm growing these days one PC load of 10 jars equates to a looooot of fruits.

Is there a problem with sterilizing a grain jar twice? would it get drier or something?
I fucked up my inoculation last night and dont want to prep any grain again, jars look good to reesterilize
I wonder if they'll get drier... Nevemind, they looked perfect
For the people how use or havve experience with polyfil... Should it feel tight on the top of the lid? mine feels really tight on the bottom but on the top its kinda loose.
Im new to polyfil filters and still have my doubts about contaminants passing through

I think part of the issue with bags is people over think it.
I'm gonna do a little write up on doing unsealed bags cause I always see people posting their bag fuck ups and they got towels in their pc, rubber bands around their bags, bricks and shit, all of which is completely unnecessary.
I run literally hundreds of bags a year and lose maybe 1 or 2 to being popped or pinholed in the pc, and, I'm with pasty, it's almost always due to getting too close to the 20psi

I let my 75x resch 20psi and then lower the dial until it clicks off around 7 on the dial. My psi drops to just about where the green band starts (17psi) before the element comes back on and goes back to 20psi. It takes about an hour to an hour and 15 for it to start whistling and then I vent for 20 mins. I cycle for 4 hours.
My bags always seal and never have holes. The only time I ever got holes was when I accordion folded. I don't even get finicky about matching the gussets, they are haphazardly wrapped over with the filter facing up, no accordion fold, no seal.
Edited due to post being backwards somehow. Sometimes my phone cursor jumps back to the beginning without noticing.

Honestly I don’t know how people are doing presealed bags, I only ever tried it once and it was not nearly as easy as sealing them later. The notions of pulling bags out hot to inflate the plenum is crazy, I will never recommend that shit to anyone.

The vacuum created by venting sucks (at least I assume it's from venting) all of the air out and perfectly seals the bags. I don't even seal my bottom bags and never experience water getting in. I don't know why anyone would bother taking the time to pre-seal. Having to cut the bags open after sterilization seems like an unnecessary potential vector.

I want the 16" so that I can flat seal xls bags for gourmets. Where did you get yours from, Pasty?
