Turpentine oil is soluble in organic solvents. Could give them an alcohol wash than a rinse. Doesnt seem worth it for a picture so I'm gonna skip that one.

Interestingly, I spent a LOT of time during my formative years picking cubes in GA and FL, and I have picked many times from areas where pasture meets pine and there are abundant needles. Given that and the fact that a few other psilocybe species I can think of enjoy needle cover, I wouldn't be surprised to see a reasonable degree of success. That said, I don't smoke much (but was ripping through keif earlier), so when I signed in and saw rainbow pipe cleaners, gerkins, pine needles, and marbles all in the same conversation, I was like

I was thinking about just ordering bags of grain spawn from North Spore or Southwest Mushrooms, they both have equally large selections.

I've always heard that cube mycelium doesn't like pine needles, but in my experience, cube mycelium loved pine needles. I experimented with straight pine needles and with a little horse manure added. They showed good growth in every jar.

They completely colonized and knotted up a little, but I never got any fruits. Could have been because I just left them in the jar and didn't really care for them. I've wanted to try it again sometime just for shits and giggles.

After doing a little research I have come across mossy creek. Anyone have any experience with them? Their website has a lot of nice pics of their cultures fruiting.

Lucky yall shopping somewhere to get different gourmet cultures. I get to choose between buttons and enoki.
Not that growing enoki would be a bad thing, yum.

Yea. For me, the only locally available are portobello and shiitake (sometimes).

Can someone please explain in regular mans terms how the actives in magic mushrooms are measured? Is it a pin head on a cap? What if that cap has fallen off? Is rest of mushroom useless? Or is the active throughout the whole mushroom?
Dad and I were talking and he swears up and down 3.5 of one “bag” and 3.5 of one “bag” can be completely different doses (not PE) and i can sort of buy that. He says we need to ground our shrooms up into one mass powder for best quality control. Can anyone please help explain this to me? Thank you.

Actives are in the entire mushroom. Some will be stronger than others if its all MS. If you have a clone tub goin you would be a lot closer to consistency but there could be slight variances based on environmental factors and what not. Thats what makes sense in my head anyway.
Grinding it all up and mixing it together would be a good control for a close average but potency loss over time would probably increase. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that cause the potency to degrade at a faster rate?
This also applies to PE. Just because it's known for being more potent doesn't make it any different.

It’s impossible to tell how potent any given mushroom is just by looking at it. Different mushrooms from ms grows will vary with potency.
He’s talking about homogenizing the mushrooms so that the potency will be more predictable. I like to make big batches of tea and freeze it
