You’ve just got the finesse down.
I accidentally made my germ plates on the hard side cuz I poured agar powder thinking it was lme
So that didn’t help things trying to do the swab.

My bad mushhead, Btw I'm only asking 50 questions a day in nervous excitement of starting my first monotub.
Once the grow starts this will escalate to around 500.
My 4th transfer plates are just germinating now so you have about another few weeks to block me.

Can you guys point me in the direction of a good deal on some plates? I've only ever used my Pastyplates and Holy grail plates for the reuseablity but I'd like to add on regular petri into the mix now.

Lol I didn’t even notice the color was gone. I got a notice saying my stuff expired but then I checked and still have unlimited pictures which is the only thing I really care about, cuz how else would I show you all my filthy house??
I just used a stack of the cell treat plates. I like them they’ve got a good feel to them. I did crack one while burying a swab though so I totally see how you guys have broke them while wrapping them up.
I must have weak baby hands (even though I've worked outside all my life and on many farms) Cause I've never managed to break a cell treat plate by wrapping it or using it in any way
Theyre my go to for cases
I break plates all the time because I have the grip of a gorilla. But hey the ladies love how strong my hands are
Not hard to be delicate. My sterile tech is really smooth, though.
Nice glass of whiskey, a joint, and some chill tunes all help to calm the nerves and soften the hand

hopefully not jinxing myself right now but yeah i've never broken a plate except by stepping on them. No matter my level of sobriety. It's kinda impressive actually that so many people do.

While we're on the topic of plates, I'm planning my first attempt at agar this weekend using standard petri dishes. I was wondering if I should wrap them in parafilm right after pouring a stack? Also, do they need to stay in the SAB for this or are they fine as long as I don't lift the lid?

You can throw them in ziplocks, put them back in their sleeve, or click the link in my signature to see how I do it. I wouldn't recommend wrapping each plate individually though, it's tedious.

Piq, I'd definitely wait until they set to wrap them so you don't have half dried agar moving around. I leave them in the SAB overnight and wrap them in the SAB but I know lots of people wrap them out of the SAB. In fact lots of people put them back in the sleeve rather than wrap them at all until after they inoculate them.
My advice as a first timer would be, pour them, leave them in the SAB overnight, wrap them in the SAB next day then remove them and keep them wherever at room temperature until you inoculate them.

I like that for non inoculated plates p9, definitely doing that next time.
I like to individually wrap inoculated plates to study the progress.

I leave them in SAB for anywhere from 12-48 hours, depending on when I get back to them. This lets them cool and condensation to dissipate before wrapping. As long as your SAB is somewhere out of the way and not exposed to wind/current, they'll be fine. Just as a test I've left plates open for a week in my SAB with no growth.

Lol one of my go to albums for tripping over the last 20 years. Along with the rest of the planet.
The absolute worst was one time I was on a really good trip and had to stream it from YouTube, which was perfect except it would randomly triple the volume for maybe a second once in a while.
Shrooms and repeated jump scares aren’t a great time.
Me too! Streaked some this morning! Jamboooo on the way.
