80% success on inoculation is horrible. Always aim for at least 99%. I would do something different at that point.

Does anyone just toss spent cakes and plates in the bin? I have like 40 germinated plates I have no use for as I've transferred multiple times and will do g2g soon.
I live in an apartment and don't have land to dig a hole and bury, I could go out to a forest but that's quite excessive for 40 plates, it's not like I'm hiding a corpse.
I was just going to put in the rubbish and have with the odd plate before but a stash of 40 covered in myc may look like the throwaways of a semi serious operation, not the dumb noob that I am and be investigated. The feds have my prints.

Yep. Since I've only been using bags for about a month now my procedure is ever evolving.

I've thrown spent plates in stacks of ten in my garbage bin, I don't really care. Same goes for cakes. Put them into empty bags of cat food that I close before putting in the bin just in case. My thinking being in case of the garbage bag tearing in front of the garbage collectors, and them erroneously thinking it's signs of a biological threat - they're not paid enough to give a fuck about the content of your garbage bags but this, they may still report. But that's it really.
If you're really worried about opsec, perhaps putting them into paper bags or similar and finding public bins / garbage containers would work ?
Also, for spent cakes: perhaps crumbling them into a flower pot with soil covering them and then watering them would yield some more final fruits ?

I’m spore crossing ape x toc on one plate. Averys albinos x PESA on another plate. Then I’ll fruit each cross separate and try crossing both crosses with each other by dropping a wedge of each to one jar.

Pour some essential oils mixed with ammonia and on top of it to really get their tests reacting.

So with my plates I separate out the agar and toss down the food disposal. The empty plates I hold onto until I can't anymore and then have them melted down and tossed. My spent subs/cakes I bleach, crumble, and then clean out my Iguana's enclosure, add the lizards substrate to the spent shit and toss it regular like.

Thank you. Following your post I did a quick search and found this, thought I'd post in case it helps anyone else. I was PC'ing my quart jars for 90 mins... looks like that could be the reason some of my jars failed on my 1st attempt.

True story any sub too nasty goes to the compost dump site I have and the merely spent subs are in a giant pile to be reused in gourmet bags.

yeah that is so obvious for plates and I actually have a food disposal unit in my new place. a pain to do it for 40 plates but easily worth it to feel at ease.
for the plates themselves I'll either melt them down or just put them in a bag and smash them up and toss them, plates with no agar aren't exactly a worry anyway

King87 have you been centing properly. Hydrated grains, even on that table, whould be sterile after 90min @ >15psi. I use 3 quarters (USD) to add extra mass to my weight. This makes the process quieter and hotter.

Ya but you have to know the law. Once you throw something away into a public dump it is no longer yours but the states. which allows the state to use it as it sees fit. Evidence usually.

One of my colonizing tub has lots of condensation; there are drops of water that fell in many places on the colonized myc at the top. One of those drops has now turned that yellow/golden color that suggests metabolites. Should I be worried about bacteria ? How much ?
Would I stand a better chance of success by introducing fruiting conditions right now (evaporating as much water as possible) even if the interior coir is not wholly colonized right now ?
It's one of my two first tubs (the other also has condensation but no metabolites yet) so I want to increase my chances of making it to harvest.

You got cops already digging through your trash then I'm betting it's about game over whether or not they find anything there.

Worth noting, but I would bet paranoid amateur growers aren't as careful about their consumption paraphernalia as they may be about petri dishes or substrate.
Cocaine/powder baggies, roaches, and vape carts go in the trash with dna samples while myco stuff is incinerated before being run down the disposal or buried in the middle of nowhere like a mob witness.
