I knew that’d be the reception. Everything here is DIY!

What’s wrong with it? I have plastic tote ready but if I can spare it from drilling dozens of holes then I would do that.

Make a thread testing them against a home made tub growing in tandem.
Making them yourself is superior.

A SGFC has a ton of holes for maximum FAE.

That tray you shared is way better suited for spawning to bulk...
If you want to use it effectively, but don't have grain spawn, just take your PF Tek cakes and shred them up with a cheese grater then mix with a bulk substrate.

Does anyone have experience with the company "Max Yield Bins" products?

https://maxyieldbins.com/

I was thinking about buying one of these bins for my BFR PK tek cakes. Will it work better than SGFC?

Yesterday I pc'd 12 new jars with rye for 2h, all without any kind of modification - Means just a basic lid without polyfill, tape or smth else, just the lid.

Inoculated them right a few minutes ago with agar-myc.
While opening the lids in the SAB,the jars made a "clack" sound like if u open a new jar of jelly or something with a similar lid.
I think its like the jars have drawn air in the SAB - Nevertheless I have inoculate them but now I am not sure this airdrawing contaminated all jars?

You need to flip the lid upside down and/or add GE hole w/ filter to avoid creating a vacuum and sucking air in...

Yeah I know, usually I use Polyfill-Lids but it sucks to stack them and I prefere the clean view.
Maybe my lids are just not working for the unmodified Lid-Tek, because there is not a big screw-way between full-open and closed so its just possible to close the lid like usual or open it and I will open them out of the SAB by mistake.

Fking europe, shitty Pressure-Cookers, shitty plastic-boxes or expensive as fuck, shitty jars (nothing like masons or similar) or expensive as fuck..

So u guys mean they are all contaminated now?

I've got a couple of tubs that blobbed out and then decided that they weren't about that blob life. Some of them are getting a blue/green color and im not sure what it is. It doesn't look like trich and it isn't spreading to other mushrooms. Is this due to environmental conditions or something else?

It’s bruising. Normal for these when they start moving lots of water. Those look great.

Thanks, Pasty. That's assuring to hear coming from the father of these monsters. I wish I could take more credit but I didn't really do anything extraordinary. Cleaned spores on agar. No isolations. A2G and spawned. I don't even really check on the tubs either. They kinda just do their thing.

If anything I think I may have used too much spawn. 1qt spawn-2.5qt coir. I've got 6 more jars ready to spawn tomorrow and will probably use 1/2qt this time and see how things go.

Dude I’ve seen those bins all over Facebook. Homeboys a genius.

Just make a mono with an enticing name and a mushroom sticker and bam! Instant cash flow.

I can understand people buying kits or even bags of premade substrate but I was honestly pretty shocked how many people paid for a tub with a hole in it.

I feel like the folk who buy those would be the same folk desperately looking for an alternative to hpoo, as it's "dirty and gross"
But I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again ✌🏻

I seen that and laughed a little bit. There is no sense or reason for spending 39cad +10cad to ship a tote, go to a local big box chain and pick up a couple totes. Poke holes in it if you want but don't be fooled the cost is part of the education.
