Silly question of the day time
If inoculating using a syringe but wanting to squirt solution in an egg cup or small dish and then use a loop. Do you sterilise the egg cup/dish in the pc? How long would you put a small ceramic dish in to sterilise? Could it go in with the agar for 30 mins?

YOu could sterilize it wrapped in foil in the oven or in the PC.
With the agar would be good. It takes much less time for solid tools to sterilize than it does for porous grains and so on and so forth and what have you.

Wrap a shot glass in aluminum foil.

I'm using the BRF PK Tek (my first grow). I put together the substrate last night and sterilized five jars boiling in a big pasta pan. I left the jars overnight to cool and didn't get back to them until 7:30 tonight.
I noticed the lids where I drilled the holes looked 'rusty.' Despite the rust, I went ahead and inoculated five jars using one syringe.
My questions:
Do I need to re-tape the jars? I used micropore tape but when I stuck the needle in, the tape now has holes in it.
Do I need to worry about the rust on the holes?
Did I use enough spores to inoculate the five jars? I just used one syringe.
I'm rookie (obviously) and I hope I'm doing this technique correctly. Thanks

So last weekend I tried to cook six 3 qt bags of grain in my AA 921. Previously I was only cooking 4 bags at a time. I ended up running the pc dry trying to get the gauge up to 15 psi. It was a disaster. The bags ended up melting against the walls of the pc. Had to throw all the grain away and the AA was a bitch to get all of that plastic out of it.
So anyway, tonight I decided to run a couple lc's and a half dozen rice jars. Before the disaster with the grain bags over this past weekend I had no trouble reaching 15 psi with 2 quarters taped to the weight. Tonight I still cannot reach 15 psi. Could my pressure gauge be broken? Can I safely just go by the rocker weight and forget about monitoring it with the pressure gauge?

Absolutely, that's just your gauge acting up. The rocker isn't going to lie.

Yesterday felt like I was doing everything correctly but tonight with the inoculation I don’t feel too confident. Can someone chime in?

Do you need to retape the jars? As long as your dry verm layer is there you should be ok but you definitely can tape them and be fine as well. The rust likely isn't gonna cause problems but if you can grab new lids before your next run I would. Some of my grain lids have seen better days for sure and have a decent amount of rust.
If anything 1 syringe to 5 jars is too much spore solution but really shouldn't be a problem if everything else is prepped correctly.

Yes, retape the injection sites, and don't worry about the rust. You should be OK on the amount of spores injected from a 10 ml syringe; however, it depends on how many spores were actually in there to begin with.
edit -- sorry Wyomx... looks like we posted at the same time.

I hate washing monotubs, I hate washing monotubs more than anything else I've ever had to do in this hobby. I loath it fully and completely.
One of these days I'm going to snap and purchase a commercial kitchen dishwasher for the sole purpose of washing monotubs. I'm too anal to just wipe them out especially if their was contamination in one. I've got to hose it down in the shower, then I've got to spray it down with Simple Pro D Green 3 mixed 60ml/gallon, then I gotta hose it down again after it sits for five minutes. Meanwhile I can smell any mold that had been in the unit so I know I'm showering right after.
Repeat x 10-20.

haha you'll quickly learn that it's unnecessary. I just use the shower to wash the crap out. I've been using the same tubs for 2 years now and some even have a greenish tint from trichy boxes, but it never affects new grows

Cased and fruited 6 days ago and the casing is still not even close to 10% colonized, just some specks here and there.
It was too wet and thick at some points so 1 suspect is that. Any ideas on what to do?

I'm awfully lucky I have a large double tub utility sink in my space. I have treaded a short garden hose with spray gun onto it. Now I wash each tub and lid out there, with a huge soapy car wash sponge. And then, I wash them again before I use them. Its overkill, but I look forward to not having much contams and going back down to a single wash.

This is what I use, it's the titts. I even use it to dry grains in, note the screen lining the left side

Edit*
Just boiled some grains, here it is in action.

How level is the lid? Are you using vaseline or some type of lubricant on the seal? I agree with Josex that the rocker weight is gonna be more accurate than the gauge, but I still figure it's worth asking. I had issues with my AA getting above 14PSI and I think it was mostly related to the way I was leveling the lid. With a level lid and 3 quarters on my weight mine reaches 17-18 PSI before the weight jiggles.
Also, if your unit pulls a vacuum on cool down (mine pulls a crazy vacuum despite having a rocker weight and not a stopcock) over time it will fuck the gauge anyways, so it could be that it is out of whack due to the vacuum. I plan to eventually add one with a negative/vacuum scale on it so it doesn't get messed up but had a bit of trouble finding a good one in Canada.

Iambrownbear I just did this a few months ago to a presto 23qt running bags. Idk if you bowed out the bottom but mine was very round and it was having problems just like yours I ended up taping like 4 quarters to reach 15psi. Around 2hrs into cooking my safety plug popped out . . I stopped using it after that
