Ya I'm getting one every other bulk transfer day but I'm not complaining and I always am a bit sketched if I make an li cause I've had a plate with some shit on it that I let sit and colonize and I couldn't even see the part that was contaminated any more... I never did the the jars I let the wedge stay on top it seemed to take longer ... that's pretty dope rooster nice growth

I didn't shake, just dropped it right on top.  The cultures just fuzzed up pretty good for a day or sobbefore they started spreading.  Also, I haven't really had much rhizo growth on the plates but when the myc hit the grains they started getting rhizo.  (Agar is 4th transfer from ms).

Shake the shit out of those.

I think I might be in the minority of people who still do blender agar.  I like selecting the perfect wedge to drop in the jar.  A lot of plates look mostly good but many of them have some lazier growth that I'm not too interested in growing out.  I feel more confident with a blade than I do with a syringe in a pasty plate I guess.   Funny because I thought it'd be the other way around when I was a noob.  Loaded up on syringes and shit, thinking I was set.  Myco blade work is pretty fucking slick and easy though, at least compared to how I imagined it.

Wait I thought blenderless LI involved a syringe, a pastyplate, and a SHIP?  Or are we talking straight ms syringe to agar?  That's a pain in the ass.

I just started doing the blending agar and I love it, I prefer using bags and it really has taken jars out of the picture for the most part.

Yes, i remember reading he changed it because myc colonizes through agar, and doesn't just "sit on top" of it.

I would have preferred to just g2g with one master from a nice looking wedge, but this time I didn't have time for it.  Working under the knife is where its at!  I was a little intimidated at first, but I'm getting a lot of practice.
I just cut sections from each 3-section dish careful not to get too close to the edges or get too much uncolonized agar.  I was pretty picky with my transfers though, and I had 15 of the 4-gen. 3-section dishes are great by the way, I've done almost 60 transfers in two weeks in just 20 dishes and  only had 2 mold contams from my technique.  I'm getting a lot of practice, but pouring was a bitch though.

It works really good my jars were done in just over a week without even shaking... do you think if I just cut a wedge out and put into 500ml of water it would be just as beneficial as a whole plate? Maybe let the jar sit for a day or two first?
Edit I know less is more but if using so little in a big amount of water is it going to have less benefits

Yeah, I saw that before in pics, I think it was munxpunx's. I think I use a propane one though. Alcohol lamps suck balls, I can't believe it took me so long to upgrade.

This is kinda where I'm at with it.  For 10 years I never messed with agar and just got into it, and boy was I ever missing out.  Especially when I use with mycobags.  Honestly, if I didn't have all these jars sitting around the house, begging to be used, I wouldn't use them at all and just go straight bags.  Plus the fuckers are a helluva lot easier to manipulate when you go to spawn, or even do g2g with them.  Just opens a lot of options up for me instead of dumping the same old jars into the same old monos.  Clipping the bag down a bit an extending over the sub makes for a great microclimate, or you can even just fruit the things as blocks which I've have pretty good success with recently.

Out of agar atm but getting some this weekend. Got two new prints coming my way, AA+ and Mexicube.  They are going straight to agar the day I get them.  I'll probably start six new plates, 2 AA+, 2 Mexicube, and 2 B+.  If I happen to find any good cultures I'll definitely be isolating.  Tired of MS crapshoots.

Hey guys, yesterday I prepped 7 tubs worth of coir sub at once and it went flawlessly. I'm sure you guys have similar methods for doing this but I thought I would share.
I did it in a large tote, I took a 5kg brick of coir and broke it up into small chunks, added 4 gallons of verm and 7 cups of gypsum, I boiled 7 1/2 gallons of water(I used my 941 for that), and dumped it in to the tote with a little help and did a quick mix with a clean shovel used only for substrate and closed it up.
I kept my temp probe in there just to see and it actually sat at about 195 for an hour before it started dropping, I checked different spots and it was all even.
When it cooled I had all of my tubs lined and ready and spawn bags broke up, I used a well cleaned gallon pitcher and used 3 gallons per tub and also 8 lb.'s of spawn each and then cased and polyfilled which I had my wife doing as I moved on to the next tub(these are fruiting at spawning).
This amount of coir sub made 7 cased tubs, and I found it a super simple process, anyways thought I would share.

You use a whole cup of gypsum per tub?

Nice. I wish I could figure out how to mass pasteurize hpoo. I'm still pasteurizing in half gallon jars. I'm thinking about how a propane burner and a 55 gallon drum would work, if I maintained the water temp at about 160 and used old spawn bags for the substrate...

I have thought about this, I have a drum steamer I use for sawdust but the problem I see for pasteurizing in that is bringing all of the bags to core temp at the same time and figuring out when to to turn off the steamer to hold that temp for the desired amount of time. In the end though, figuring that out would save a shit ton of time(pun) pasteurizing large quantities of shit.

Inoc, I do use roughly a cup of gypsum per tub, I have no idea where that figure came from, probably an archaic tek years ago, but that's what I have always used, what is your preferred amount of gypsum per tub?
