Yeah I’m doing a side by side right now.. they are ms so won’t be super definitive although they are from the sam glc.. there’s not much difference in how the tubs are set up.. like 1 step lol. but it’s fun trying shit

@starbones what’s 15 of them bottles yield? And have you tried them outside of a tub? I like the idea of using bottles/cups
I wonder if I could just build a frame/box out of wire or something and saran wrap it to make a clear “tub” throw some holes and tape on it and put a shit load of bottles in it.??
Sounds good but it’s late and I’m stoned

Plates came last night. 4/20 of them are so snug they need two hands to pull apart. Fortunately there is just enough wiggle room in the bag to do that. If I paid full price I would be pissed but for 10 cents a plate i cant complain. Gonna fill 100 tomorrow morning If i can fill them with out a break in my flow i will buy another case.

It could be very well strain dependent on how it performs, will keep track of how the next spawn run goes with Melmak and ToC. I think this really brings together the best of the bottletek and the monotub, specifically the Pasty Ez-Dial. If the performance is golden across different strains I'll likely never go back to a regular mono. Mudatubs seems like a good name.
The yield per cup is yet to be determined as I was still getting things dialed. The first one ever harvested gave me 324 wet grams.

Some cups have yielded less but I won't know a total until 15 cups have been harvested and then I can compare it to a normal 84qt monotub. In a normal 84qt monotub I usually spawn 4 qts of grain, in this setup it requires 5 and more CVG
The cups/bottles are nothing new, Mudas bottle tek just.. different instead of PCing everything in the bottle this is spawning to bulk in a bottle. Same thing though.
Edit: Pics up.
The middle guy there is one of the first I had made with that teeny-tiny grain only layer under the thick casing. Only 10 out of 15 in this tub
All with the grain layer under the thick casing.
Grain layer + not. I also believe the second one could have used more packing pressure on the sides, side pins are no joke but are easily handled.
What I expect from these. Stupidly easy to harvest + rehydrate.
 A side by side.
Combined the wet weight on these two was 333 wet grams. So obviously both could have performed better but these guys in my experience should dry down to around 10% so a little over an ounce dry material between the 2 from the first flush. Assuming the other containers perform the same (or better like the 324g wet single) that's a little under a HP dry from a combined 15 containers off the first flush. Obviously there's too many variables up in the air at the moment and everything won't be kosher until a full tubs worth of harvest has been calculated but eh. I will take it. If everything went the way the first container at 324g went then I would see 4860 wet grams. I do not see this being remotely possible as I believe the first containers I made were an exception and luck. (@ 93% water that's 340 dry grams, @ 90% water 486 dry)
The thing I like the most is that the spawn is not mixed so any sneaky contams can take at most 3 containers, any contams after the fact are locked into their own container not taking the whole monotub with them. When a bottle is spent I can just take it out of the tub and toss a fresh one in. Then because it's PP5 I can rinse the container out quickly and then put it in the dishwasher to clean them. Or toss them I guess since they're 14 cents each but I won't do that until I move to the biodegradeable ones I bought that are 22 cents a unit.

Sealed the mono with saran wrap for colonization. (No lid) How many holes would it be wise to open to allow GE? 3 days in, the myc grew a bit but seems stalled now. Just take a scissor and poke 1-2 holes on it? Dont wanna dry her out. Cheers.

No can do, I need to apply a casing layer. Need to have it in vegetative mode. Plus it's a traditional tub with holes and poly.

Can anybody point me to some good and simple gourmet tek?
I looked in the other subforum but couldnt find any specific tek for oysters or shiitake, not even a sticky.
Zirans thread only has teks about agar and other techniques but no specific procedures.
Feel so dumb, i must be missing something in plain sight

I think you can do pink oysters on coir and grains in a monotub. Same as cubes. You can nocc most things up with grain as far as I know you then just need to work out substrate and fruiting conditions for each species.
Here's a page of links to get you started https://www.shroomery.org/11327/Gourmet-Mushrooms

Second flush PES Hawaiian. Thinking I should clone those two big fruits in the picture, any thoughts?

All of my cultures are MS so I wanted to get some clones going eventually.
I had so many bacterial jars of spawn but they're all fruiting fine, which I never expected.
GT ms shoebox pinset looking nice.

Makes me think I could mix 4 of these qt jars together and actually run a 56qt monos even with suspect spawn...

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but... How long is to long to wait for GT to do something? I don’t know the correct terminology on shit here.. but on the 11th of last month I inoculated three bags of rye.. two Cc each.. it’s been a little chilly here but there’s no signs of growth at all.. I made sure everything was sterile

Given that you used spores to inoculate a premade grain bag there is actually very little you could have done to ensure everything was sterile. Almost all critical stages are out of your control at that point.

I threw my SAB onto my dryer earlier to get it out of the way as I re-arranged some stuff. Well it was sitting on a pile of clean towels I haven't folded yet, fell and caught itself and was sitting at like a 25 degree angle towards me.
Well I stuck my arms in there just to see if the angling fucked with anything and it sure as shit does. By having it angled towards me I was able to keep my elbows bent and my hands in front of my face, working with the plates sideways so that the exposed areas are never facing up.
Kind of a bitch to keep anything on the floor of it but hell if it's not an easier way to work in there.

There’s a bunch of good gourmet teks. If you search my threads I made one prob 6-7 months ago about switching from cubes to gourmets. People linked all kinds of stuff.
There’s a lot of straw teks for oysters, mostly buckets, baskets, and logs.

Yeah it's a great method. Prefer buckets though. A bucket and a garbage bag topper with slits will produce a lot of oysters in a shitty environment...
