Once at 20~%. It recovered nicely on half of the jars, the other half were slower but they too recovered. Now waiting for that little spot of grains to close up, it does close up but its like watching grass grow. It's strandy healthy mycelium, not cheese matty-like and not weak and whispy. Just wondering what could have been done best or avoided altogether to not have this happens and speed up things, was reading RR moments ago saying how his jars colonized wihthin 10 days however he may have used larger agar wedges or LC, just some thoughts.

If you aren't happy with 20 days and your culture is actually clean then; dial in your grain prep, switch to liquids, get a faster culture into production.

I need some input friends.
Harvested my first shoebox ever today from a questionable jar of spawn that had a funky smell.
It fruited okay

My question is the stumps had a really yellow appearance to them when I harvested (but quickly turned blue as you will see in the photos) and the shrooms smelled exactly as the grain spawn I used for the shoebox, kinda off.

Are they possibly contaminated? If I cut the base of the mushroom a little higher it looks healthy inside.

Senescence couldn't possibly be an issue on a flush 1 clone colonizing just a sub-1 quart worth of rye, could it?

Nothing I can really see wrong with them at all. I've had yellow stumps before on some grows with pristine spawn.

It was a t5 or t6 plate that had pretty uniform growth. Ill just test it in a little tub see if it is or not. Thanks anyway.

I'd eat them 👍

Phony Phone said: its been 20 days since innoculating grains with agar wedges, all jars are 99+%~ colonized, except one which is 97~ with a small spot that refuses to close up or to put it more accurately, closes up slooooooooowly.
They are healthy white with not wet spots etc, also the grains themseves are healthy without any bacterial growth. Temp itself is around 76f~ or so
1. what other causes are there for mycelium to stall? 2. Why did it take 20 days anyway despite being healthy myc b4 u ask me for pics, trust me, its healthy ive seen plenty of pics It's rye btw and the myc comes from a 1st flush clone.

If its not contamination then it is a moisture issue. Or lack thereof

My friend has a cattle farm. Huge grass fields covered in cow poop. Could one get some spore prints or MSS and go out spraying spores everywhere and it grow some new friends?
It should work right? Considering that is actually the natural environment for cubes.
Then year after year the fields would produce
Anyone ever heard of someone trying this? Thoughts?

In theory that should work but it all depends on climate/location.

I’d just bury spawn if you wanted to grow outside
Shit you’d get decent results going spore to grain to outside. Probably better to not spawn the moldy jars but bacteria isn’t really a problem outside.Brf would be easier than grain if you don’t have a pc

Yeah I saw something before about they eat the spores and then get all mixed in the cows stomach so they’re shitting out inoculated pies.

That's what I thought. The digestive process eliminates much competition resulting in mush pies. If you let some sporesplosions occur and then rinse the tubs to collect the spores and then hydrate some feed with a simple soak you oughta be good to go. A barn full of cows with a daily supplemented feeding could fill a field nicely.

That is a very doable idea! Thanks guys
I was just thinking of letting a tubs spores drop then flooding the tub then putting the water in a sprayer back pack and walking around a field pumping out love into the earth/poop lol

Step 1: Git rich Step 2: Buy ranch Step 3: Feed cows spores Never spawn a tub again...
