Many put marbles or a small piece of broken glass.
I would if i were making an LC specially if i were using a jar with some kind of filter. Mycelium sometimes can be a bitch to break up (at least in my experience)
Depending on the container used you may not want you be agitating too hard as some filters may get wet. On the other hand if you are using some of those pirex containers that come with a tight cap you may want to skip it (or not) as there will Not be any filter to get wet.

Ok cool, well I don't have a filter so that's sound. Does that mean I just give it a shake/swirl in order to break it up before pouring?

For lc I usually swirl it real fast one direction and then suddenly switch to the other direction and that works pretty well to bust the myc up once you get the hang of it.
When you’re actually pouring you want to give it a little whirl with the wrist right before to make sure the myc is well mixed and not settling towards the bottom. I accidentally poured mostly water off the top the first time I did it cuz I let it settle.

Hi people, anybody want to help me understand whats the deal with APE? Why is it to hard to grow?
Shouldn't it be a stable culture by now? I understand its a mutation by so are other PE and those are stable.
Also, PE vs APE how much is it worth the difference potency wise?
I couldn't find any good and properly made thread when searching
Forget about it, finally found the answer

In your opinion what is the best amount of water to add to 650g coir? I've tried 4 qts and also tried 3qts. 4qts gives me perfect field capacity at first but after spawning I noticed I have a ton of condensation on the lid that if i'm not careful will drip all over the sub. Seems to give good surface conditions on some tubs, then on others I have a shit ton running down the sides. With 3qts it doesn't look quite field capacity when I first squeeze and later on it seems to be perfect then dries up quickly.
I assume I'll have to try 3.5 and see if its the sweet spot just curious what you guys use.

Do you let it cool down before you put your lid on?

It doesn't matter if you get condensation, matters even less if it drips on your sub. You're supposed to get condensation all over the walls and lid, dripping doesn't matter at all.

3.5 quarts is the sweet spot for the bricks I use. Every brand will be a little different. I also add 2 quarts of verm. Its usually slightly under field capacity, but I like it that way.

Ran out of ready CVG today so had to whip up more, it's still pretty warm. Hoping to get more work done today.
It's still mostly warm, not bad though. I can run my hands and mixed it up with a vinyl dishwashing glove so it's not burning me or anything. Don't got anything to read a temperature think it's ok to use or waste the day waiting for tomorrow?

Can you not get in? There still a couple left I think.

I'm still too close to my registration date I believe.
Waiting "patiently", but hopefully I'll have some prints to share by then too!

What would happen if you put a piece bof colonized agar in pure water? Would there be no growth? Shouldn't the myc expand from the agar piece anyway

Made a test yesterday, my honest theory is that some growth should occur, perhaps even enough myc for a syringe draw

Does anybody here know how to make a heating element for a dehydrator?
Here in Argentina they cost upwards of 700 dollars (about 3 minimum wages) so i cant afford one right now.
I need to learn how to make a heating element of 50 to 500 watts.
