I think there are different kinds of millet. I only used millet once, soaked without boiling. It barely expanded and was really dry (still worked though).
If it is millet seeds (small amd oval shaped) then i would boil them for a very few minutes. If they are millet "grain" which is larger in size and round the probably dont need boiling
This was made with soaked millet seeds:

All mail is xrayed and sniffer dog checked by several people on its way in for international and domestic. Foil shows up to easy and won't make it through, police go door to door for follow ups if your address is on the letter. Massive dark web crack down at the moment, old dinosaur politicians finally figured out what it is and are freaking out about it.
Only way to do it is print onto a cardboard birthday card and pin a bank note over it.
Then take about 6 million contaminated agar cuttings until you got something clean to work with. Like I said I'm just happy to have something to work with now. Hard work pays off in the end
Dogs are not trained to sniff spores, It just would not make sense. Would they spend millions dollars just to sniff out some dude's spore print? Of course they would not. There are also million other ways to store and send spores - swabs, print on paper, a tiny fraction of a print.... X-ray or not just imagine the people working there and going through each mail and be like "Guys, this is it! I found the one with the spore print"

Only place the darknet has in this hobby is for getting rid of excess and even then it's fuckin useless when you're practically giving weight away. It's because of those damn forums on the internuts that teach people how to cultivate causing a flooded market I tellyawhut. Ain't nobody making squat.
Blows my mind people are paying top dollar for prints when theres a new giveaway thread here every so often. Let alone people spending $200 on a print.
Having said that, like I showed the other day people are buying $160 "Automatic Monotubs" that GUARANTEE no contamination (lol) and $700 martha kits.

I guess they are trying to do the same as weed industry - super overpriced hydro systems that can dance and sing for thousands when you could DIY an aeroponic system for a few hundred. Nutrients are basically all the same, brands mean absolutely nothing, it's the same shit labelled with different names claiming X%+ yields. It's funny how people are just buying into bs marketing when they could get crazy yields with super low budget DIY.

If you're on etsy for mushroom supplies it's because you're misinformed and want the bullshit. I don't think the correct equipment would do well there.

p9hu7 said: So does millet require a fuckin simmer or not? I've made attempts at soaking white millet for 24hrs, bag, pc for 3.5 hours. Fuckin grain always blows holes in the side of my bags and gets grain everywhere.
I have wheat but my autoclaves are in the same room that I do spawn run so I'm looking for a way to minimize the heat and energy required to prep grains. If I have to boil or simmer millet I may as well just continue to use wheat.
Millet doesn't seem to expand much even during a 24 hour soak, which may be fine for jars but it totally fucks my bags when they expand during the cycle. Am I missing something?
I want to say first that I was team millet 100% with out even doing real trials because I saw a commercial cultivator I respect do this in the bag no soak no simmer (it does soak in the bag for a while though), however after countless runs I have jumped ship, and am enjoying the swim much more than that ill-fated dirty boat ride...
No you are not missing anything. I ran hundreds of pounds of millet in this way. I am about to do a side by side (this month) of various moisture contents for this no simmer no "true soak" approach with millet against a grain that actually soaks up the water and expands pre PC like Oats for example. What you have said is the case with me as well. I have said this in another thread. Millet no prep is garbage for bags (I was preaching the virtues of No Prep Millet before even really understanding it's shortcomings [before my shroomery account, sorry to those I led astray out there in the world...]) , and this approach is arguable for jars too, but for bags it's not optimal for SURE, as it soaks up fuck-all water and doesn't expand till you apply heat. This is not great for jars, and terrible for bags. Aside from blown out bags, it causes pooling water in both jars and bags (especially bags due to the amount of grain) once heat is applied because it wasn't soaked in all the way, which it sits in this pooled water for the whole cycle causing different levels of hydration layers in the grain where as a grain that soaks up the water effectively and expands pre PC doesn't have this problem and you get much more evenly hydrated grain where a bunch of water didn't run down to one part of the bag/jar leaving all the gunk to collect with the pooled water creating a sticky clumpy mess. I even made a special drum roller for this purpose and will share that when I do my side by side.
Millet no prep was a very attractive romantic idea for a slacker like me, but I have done enough testing that nobody can tell me it is a superior grain for no prep regardless of the recent uptick in people jumping on the bandwagon (because they are in love with the "idea" as well, but I think the practical application will make this fad pass fairly quickly). I helped drive some of the nails that helped build this bandwagon to a small degree elsewhere and I regret doing so. I will rectify this mistake by doing a detailed pictorial/side by side next time I have a chance.

Etsy was a decent place to get gourmet cultures at least here in Canada for awhile. I haven't found much use for it save for getting a handful of this that or the other thing in consumables when I don't need a box of 100.
Seems like a great place to fleece people but karma swings a great big hammer IMHO. Ebay fucks most Canadians. $5 item with $20 shipping like.. piss on you.

Anyone know of any stores that carry the overpressure plug for presto pressure cookers? Mine failed yesterday and I ordered some online but I have loaded jars sitting in the pc and I'd rather not leave them sitting in there until next friday.

In my country shrooms are classed as the same category as heroin and meth. You will go to jail for a few years if caught producing a scheduled one class substance. #proxysFTW
