I’ve been going just a tiny bit over field capacity recently to compensate for my grain being on the drier side. No idea how it affects yields overall I just know I tend to fuck up the surface with over misting

Yea, everyone grows their own medicine too. I have my mazapatek culture that was years old going again. I kept a jar of sclerotia going for over a year and half thinking i could clone from it when i wanted, but the jar didnt produce any good stones or they deteriorated over time. I have enough jars for a couple monos and will be spawning to bulk soon. Gypsum is used for the calcium and i think magnesium, does anyone know if I could substitute gypsum with another calcium mineral. I have wollastonite wich is a calcium and silicate mineral.

Hi people!
Is a 3 year old germinated syringe to old to bother attempting to fruit it? Last year the mycelium was really slow, so slow i ended up forgetting about those plates..
I would love to buy a galindoi print but here in argentina 25 bucks is like a week's worth of food and i really cant afford it right now. But at the same time dont want to bother cleaning an old culture for months.
What do you guys think?

Roger. I will be giving it a good scrub down and lube tomorrow to run some more bags. I was supposed to do that today but got sided tracked with my buddy and a few bottles of wine. Managed to pick up some petroleum jelly from the dollar store first

So I made rice spawn slurries tonight. I used 100 ml of water per 1/4 pint of rice spawn. Next time I think I may cut it back to 75 or even 50 ml of sterile water as this is a little more watery than what I wanted. I am going to use 1 slurry jar for 2x3 qt oat bags.

I use one agar plate to ~325mL water and use it to knock up 12 bags
They still colonize in 11-14 days generally.
Probably would be a decent bit quicker if I used less water and did 2 plates or something for all 12 bags but it's still fast enough that I don't mind. And I can really stretch 1 plate out this way.

I guess I kinda follow a modified version of eatyualive's liquid inoculant tek. I should probably get around to making one up with my specific procedure one of these days.
I sterilize 300-350mL of water in a jar with my blender lid attachment (which is just the oster gasket siliconed to the actual blender blade metal) I don't actually have the thing attached to the ring itself so it's still a 2 piece. With that I also sterilize a plastic mason jar lid wrapped in foil inside a jar (just to keep moisture off it) . I run the PC for 30 minutes for this stuff. Usually I'll sterilize a scalpel handle too just for extra cleanliness.
When I'm ready to go in front of the flowhood, I cut an agar plate up into 6 wedges or so and drop them in just lifting the edge of that blender lid enough to get it in there. I have my blender sitting on the flowhood table but a bit away from all my other shit. I always wipe the blender down really good with iso too. Then I blend the shit out of it. Once blended, put the jar back into direct flow and I remove the foil off the plastic lid and use it to replace the blender lid to prep for pouring. I don't like leaving it uncovered even in front of the flow hood. I suppose you could probably do that and save having to sterilize a lid but this is what has been working for me so I just go with it.
Then for bags I just try my best to eye out 20-30mL per bag and pour it directly in there. Always give the jar a little swirl to mix the mycelium solution up a bit before pours. I can only fit 3 bags onto my flowhood table so I do 3 at a time, zip-tie them, then cover the jar with the plastic lid and swap those bags out for new ones . I use 4lb bags, 10-12 a run depending on where I'm with tub space and whatnot
Pretty shit tek without any pics but you get the picture
Will build on this in the future. Definitely been meaning to do a journal entry of how I do my whole routine. It's been doing good for me. I am probably gonna venture back into LC game soon just to see what I can accomplish but I have had some bad luck in the past with LC and LI has just never screwed me around like LC has .
What I like about LI is not having to test it on agar first, since I know the agar plates I use are clean
Every tub I've posted in the past like 6 months have used this method to make spawn

Might be the lowest contamination rate I've ever achieved too

I think too much water in grain can create an environment conducive to growing bacteria. I even pull out as much excess water from my lc's as I can without pulling the mycelium with it. I want more inoculant and less water. With the rice or any kind of g2g, though, a little extra water will help spread the mycelium a little further throughout the medium. Thus it should colonize the oat bags faster, just like eatyualive has demonstrated in his surry tek. Since the canning jars do not measure lower than 100 ml, I plan on using my 60 ml syringe next time to measure the water. Later today I will snap a pic of the rice after pouring it into the oat bags and sealing but before I mix.

Son of a biiiiiiitch. I was too late getting my muda-style 1qt grain/cvg containers set with dialing in my Pasty ez's so of course they all started to side pin. I shoulda put lids on them with FAE holes as a bandaid. No unfucking them now, guess I'll wait for the second flush.
See if I can fix the other 90.
Feck.

I've already got the blender base, used it for mimosa and would really like an upgrade for that job, but I've yet to make a blender lid mod. I'll give it a whirl once I get my FFU in. I'd like to make 100+ tubs a manageable undertaking. Only have about 30 right now since I phased out my older rounded tubs in favor of 64qt sterilite. We canceled Christmas plans so now I'm picking up pace.

I opened a new bag of oats this morning. Had quite a few corn kernels on top. I thought about picking them all out but then I figured why go through the hassle.

Has anybody had a nesco dehydrator stop working?
I took it apart and wired the fan up which still runs just fine, it's the thermal fuse that blew, the heating element won't turn on. Ordered some extras to see if I can fix the fucker but I am curious if anyone has ever taken on fixing one of these things?
Worried the fuses might be a bit too short...they don't get crimped in they wrap around a rivet on each end. All the ones I could find seem like they might be a cm or so short.
Will update whenever these arrive from china, maybe even make a TEK on fixing it...I imagine this has had to happen to other members here...this is what I get for running the thing 24/7 for a couple weeks

Anybody got any tips for cleaning dirty dicks?
Just harvest another tub of PEU and the jiffy mix left behind on the bases of the booms has always been an annoyance to me.
I like clean presentation and short of using a brush and baby wipes I haven't figured out how to clean them off without spending a ton of time doing it.

I use the back of my filet knife I use for harvesting to scrape the stipe at the base, peels a small layer of flesh off kind of like an onion. You get the hang of it and it becomes a quick process. Should work on PEU same as any other zoom. Should come off easily.

If you're using a dehydrator, toss them in for 24 hrs with the bits of sub on there. Comes off bases much easier once they're cracker dry. Toothbrush if necessary
