So if you harvest 1000g wet using 500g dry materials (grain and sub) your BE is 200%
So I know the weight of my coir. So do I need the weight of my oats? And is that dry oats or after hydration? That's all I've got going into the mix.
Ya it sez dry material, but how can I tell how much dry oats went into a jar of spawn?
And, I'll take the hit, what does BE mean?

Yeah an ounce per quart is ok but 2 is doable.
I’ve never actually kept track of BE before, I should prob do that sometimes.

Yes you need to know how much dry oats went into each jar. Just weigh your total oats dry, hydrate them and distribute into say 10 jars (probably what you're doing with your presto) then devide the total weight of dry grain by the number of jars you filled. This only works if you put the same amount in each jar (my jar scoop is 1 cup so I know that my jars are 3 cups each)
My wheat grains double in size when hydrated so I measure 15 cups of wheat to do 10 jars. I would simply weigh 15 dry cups of wheat and devide by 10. To know how much each jar took.

Wow ok, I can live with that. Of course that would assume I'm actually getting results.

Oh, and does harvest include as many flushes as one can squeeze out of a tub?
Yes you need to know the dry weight of your grain.
Also yes to accounting for multiple flushes. What you really want is a culture that can do 100% BE or more first flush.

I just started to want to calculate it recently. I mean if I get more precise with my weights and what went in then all a sudden I'm hitting 2oz a qt. Then I will know what was good and what was not. I'm about to harvest all my tubs except for 1 tommorow so I will have the wet weight before my night shift. Hopefully everything turns out good I'm ready for fire up my 4 dehydrators. Woohoo mama gonna harvest some cubes tommorow it's been 6 months since my last harvest since I just moved. I'm hoping 3oz a tub first flush dry. If I end up with my 2.7 then I well at least I have it going for me. Most of the time I only get 2.7 after 3 flushes.

If you rehydrate between flushes you need to add that also right.

I don't think so water don't matter for what I understand... It's the dry weight that matters.

Just dry substrate weight. Grain, coir, verm.

Question for the millet pros. I'm going to be making a switch from Wheat to millet in an attempt to remove the heat/energy required to hydrate large batches of wheat. When the millet soaks for 24 hours what is the moisture content? Does the grain double in size?

Lucky iv been sucking for the last year with this culture I'm on I think f4 with this T5 from a cluster. Still not reaching 1oz per qt. I'm pushing it this time though I might make it this has been the best iv got in along time.

Wow I should have been calculating BE this whole time.
For some reason I thought water weight mattered so I never gave it a try.

I always feel like such a scrub when i calculate my faux-BE. Two years in and my average is somewhere between 0.5 - 0.75 dry oz per quart Could be my cultures, but i'd rather blame myself; mostly shitty spawn+sub prep.

In theory if someone were dumb and misted their monotubs too often even with decent FAE do you think that could lead to mold problems? Pretend this guy is a real moron and for some reason misted everyday like clockwork.
For some reason I feel like I never used to mist them everyday. All of a sudden I am and uh, weird.. mold. Just had a tub go moldy on me right after the first flush was finishing up and as I disposed of it I realized it had standing water on the top.
Back when I did unbodified tubs I don't think I misted the fucking things at all. Not sure why I've been misting Pasty tubs every day. I bet that was bad for mold alright.

Actually I mist mine everyday sometimes 4 times a day when I'm running my fan while I'm home. They dry pritty quick but it helps with far boost while I'm home. It worked pritty great for this weekend had alot of boomers coming in thick and ready.

I couldn’t imagine misting a wall of tubs daily. More like 2wice a week at most. Dial things in better if you are having to mist more than once every 3 days.
