It hasn't affected my cubes in a discernable way yet but it will be the cats ass for your houseplants.
Hard to see the pins (except for the bigger ones) because albino but the tubs other than having some odd myc are knotting and pinning like gangbusters.

No metabolites from any of that lumpy myc that grew and it's been over a week or more now? The lumpy myc didn't turn green and all seems well. I ended up plucking one of the lumps off and gave it a squeeze and it turned blue so alls well that ends well.
Haven't seen a fungus gnat near them since and only the odd one or two in the house that are probably coming from the bathtub drain. Gotta hit that with some drano foam soon.

If you pluck mushrooms and leave them sit around for 2-3 days without dehydrating them, is this a big problem?

Put them in the fridge in a paper bag.

Hey guys, first time grower. Do these jars look ready for spawning in a couple days? Still some uncolonized spots like in the second to last pic but they seem to be moving along so I hope it’s not contams

These look fantastic to me. Even the last one. Make a note which tub that jar went onto... make as many notes as you can. Congrats... took me years to make grains look that good.

With sunlight and fresh air basically being the bane of mold outdoors except for a few exceptions I wonder if one could replicate the effects of sunlight to harness that mold and mildew destroying power. Supplemental UV and all that.
I mean under artificial light mold will grow indoors so it makes me wonder just how beneficial the missing spectrum of sunlight would be for a fruiting room if one could introduce a minute amount of UVC/UVB. Just a touch, not enough to harm you. Just enough that it was like being out in the sun for a few hours.

Don't tempt me lol, I always feel better after working in my fruiting room and being under the 6500k lights. Not as good as HPS lamps felt when I was growing the weed though.

I've also always been interested in mimicking sunlight.... but it must be said, people grow with great success without much mold suppression... using clean spawn.
QUESTION!!
In regards to micropore tape. Do we believe all things travel through it with the same ease? Water vapor, oxygen, CO2.... Or are some things slowed more by the barrier?

I spawned a tub of PE on Friday (10/30/20). I used rye berries as my spawn and highmountaincompost as my substrate. Its been about 5 days so far and I am already at 80-90% colonization. Was wondering if I could get some feedback and opinions on whether this tub is contaminated or not. Attached are some photos of the tub. Had a weird smell coming off it when I opened it to take some pics and am starting to notice some really fuzzy mycelium around the edges of the tub. This colonization time seems extremely fast to me and I am a bit worried I might be dealing with cowed mold. Sorry about the lighting, took these pics at night and used a flashlight to shine it on the tub to try and make the mycelium a little more visible. I was also wondering what you guys think about taping up holes during colonization or stuffing with polyfil. I am starting to think my sub will not get as wet during colonization if I start stuffing the holes with polyfil when I spawn the tub instead of covering with duct tape.

I cloned a maitake a little while ago. While the fruit was sitting in the trash it got this dense orange mold all over it. It started out kinda light like this but then it thickened up into a creamsicle orange color. No idea what it was but I’ve never seen anything like it
