I think sometimes when the grains are greasy its due to not rinsing them good enough leaving shit on therr to become bacterial because i dont rinse my oats just boil them and ill get bacterial jars quite often i will do a side by side of 2 jars one with just boiled grain and one with rinsed and use the same plate to see if it comes out different

Shit.. so don't expand it huh. Glad I didn't soak any WBS. Man this is slow as shit going. Idk how to speed it up. I guess I'll have to take a few transfers off my T5 Ksss plate, let those grow out, and inoculate with that. Whole damn plate per jar. Let those grow. Expand those.

Soaking some WBS now. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it. I'm half drunk, but hell I have 20lbs. Need to make some transfers and pull some pins for clones. Agar while drinking tequila. Fuck it.
I have coffee and oyster shells. Should I brew a pot and add it to my soak? And pulverize my oyster shells and add them to my jars before PC? Or skip that shit?

Damn.
It's such a pain in the ass to get started working. It's not even terribly time consuming. Just kind of a pain in the ass. But once I get going I enjoy it. I'd enjoy it more if I'd get half as much contams lol.

SAB work makes me rage. When the mother fucking wedge won't come off the xacto, and I'm just rolling t around. And flicking it and scraping it like a dumbass. God damn.
Got one TYC pin very shittily transferred, did 4pkates of 5th transfer KSSS (one plate did terrible getting wedged off, labeled it "bad"), did one transfer of a GT clone Myc plate, and one transfer of a KSSS myc clone plate.
So the GT and ksss clone are now on second transfer. Got one TYC pin on agar, and a few KSSS 5th generation transfers that I plan to use to inoculate master jars to expand via G2G
Maybe it'll be ok. Idk. Pretty buzzing. Oh well.

Hey Moab. For your next transfers, try doing some of them with an inoculation loop. Just scrape the myc off the top of the agar and then slice the loop through the middle of your receiving plate. You'll likely not even be able to see the myc on the loop, but I've been doing it this way for a couple months now and even when you don't see myc on the loop it works 9 out of 10 times for me. I'm extremely clumsy with a scalpel so I tried this and it has been working wonderfully for me. I can be way more accurate with picking exactly the spot I want to take, and I'm in and out in no time flat.
Here's one I did when I was first trying it out.

Here's one I did from just the last transfer I did.

I'm doing 12 transfers tomorrow and I'll take pics of them along the way so I can prove the success rate.

So I have a question. Does this jar look contaminated to you or is it just the rye causing the weird looking stuff?

It went ok. Half way between my best and worst runs. Biggest issue I had was getting the wedge off. If I stabbed the fuck out of it with xacto, didn't do well. The ones i "lifted" did really good. Curious to see how two of the plates go. I rolled that wedge around all over it a lot, I know I did. Some went smooth, most did. Two or three were a pain in the butt. Just hope the 4 KSSS 5th gen transfers I made turn out clean to inoculate with. That'd be fantastic.
How'd yours go?

You can rotate your blade in your fingers sometimes and let gravity work. Or, cut a straight line into your agar and make a perpendicular cut. If you cut an L it should come off.
