Fuzzy mold.
😢
If it's not mold, it's something that would still make me cry. Doesn't look good. Looks like shit that's given me cramps... 😭

I need a better picture. Some cultures grow quite mold like. I got a culture from a friend of mine the other day and told him it was mold. He told me the culture just did that and told me to put it to grain. I did and pulled some amazing flushes. I was just looking at it on agar again today and thinking, "how the fuck is this not mold".

Maybe it's okay, put it to grain and let a girl know how it goes!

Doesnt look like mold to me. Look at that organized ring of growth around the wedge. Mold would be more sporadic growth. Definitely not the yeast you might be referring to becky

It looks like an albino A+ culture that I had and could never get to perform or even produce a single mushroom. Wishing him the best!

You're doing that thing again where you totally overlook the data provided and fail to apply it. No offense but I had to explain my yield results to you twice, before you understood it. You have chosen to select the tea directly as your point of view, in fact you totally missed the point (again).

Pastywhyte said: Research and understanding of biological process is great but if it cannot translate into results it’s not much use to most people here. I once accidentally grew cubes on a wood based medium, very little flour or added supplements. The fruits grew and sporulated. But the yield was crap, aside as a momentary interesting observation on the resilience of the species it was an utterly useless grow.
You didn't apply experience and information on wood, if we are talking plain wood, even oyster produces less yield on plain wood, than modified wood. I have already explained about the acidic pH and lack of nitrogen in wood, Cubensis likes a much higher pH and nitrogen ratio.
Some people already understand me, and are applying my methods to their grows (I even got large donations).

If those were my plates (especially the first one), I would look at that and think I had just transferred some nasties to new plates. I just threw away a plate that had growth that looked like that. Does anybody here have successful cultures that have that appearance? I'm very curious to know since I just threw some of that away. I had an albino a plus syringe that gave me nothing but problems in the beginning when I took spores to grain, and it never successfully grew a single mushroom no matter how many jars I attempted (back when I did jars) then when I graduated to agar it came out looking like that, and I couldn't get it cleaned up.
Anybody got good cultures that look like that? I'm not a pro with the eyeballing or identifying of various varieties of contamination, but what I expect myc to look like combined with my unending failures with that syringe that gave me growth looking like this, I am thinking it doesn't look great.
What do you fellas think?

For some reason every single culture I have started from spore lately has this shit and I can't get rid of it. I know my HEPA filter on the FH is good because all of my test dishes that I ran open for hours are clean.

If we're talking cube myc, I put it through the Tom Sellack test.

Just wanted to bring this to the attention of mush cult. katbusa and Ferather have been experimenting with tea agar to clean up contaminated spawn and cultures. I thought it would fit in over here as a great alternative to antibiotic agar...tea is readily available and not everyone wants to use antibiotics. Also, bacterial contams are often present when starting from prints and syringes, and can really be discouraging to those starting out. I modified the original recipe to use less tea as the original amount seemed a bit excessive. Here are a couple APE cultures and a malabar. All had some degree of bacterial contam and are now growing clear. Growth is very slow on this medium but will result in a clean culture.
NOTE: spores will not germinate on this agar!

200ml H2O 4.25g black tea (2 bags) 2g ME 4g Agar

That is the best thing I have ever seen in regards to myc growth. But yeah, I definitely thought so too.
@Ferather thanks so much! I will definitely give that a try!
