Does anyone tape their metal jar lids together to make 1-piece lids? How do you keep the tape from ripping when opening? Loose lids?

Idk what's up 10 grams malt extract 10 grams agar 500 ml water
Fresh pin have beautiful rizo growtg with no visible contame.
But my transfered clones don't have the same rizo qualities with same conditions/recipe.
I believed contam at first but last time I had this problem I said fuck it and dropped one to grain.. fully colonized with beautiful rizo growth then g2gd.. all colonized fine and fruited..
What gives..?
All below pictures were put on agar the same day
Big transfer

Smaller transfer (ihave smaller)

Big pin

Little pin

interesting.. So the farther along I go it will just continue to become more uniform but not have to giant beautiful veins? Am I getting that right?
It almost looks tomatose to me.
Should also add that my master slants look rhizo from these plates same day

Not every mycelium structure is going to be the same. Different morphologies for literally every grow you'll ever do.

This is literally every transfer I take. it's not just these 2 plates it's over 30 plates and every beginning one is beautiful nice and veiny but seems to lose vigor or something.
I understand that there will never be the same set of mycelium until you reach a true isolate
But I guess I just am not getting it I compare to alot of other clone to Petri pictures and my own and it just never regains the rhizo just stays uniform but slighly cottony.
Rule out contam my LLS I did the other day look good so far. Done with the same looking mycelium. Just added a little too much water next time
Also thanks for responding and trying to clarify.

Well its not like youre giving it tons of nutes next agar run put 8 grams of malt and see if that keeps it more rhizo? I do 10 grams to 1000ml but thats pretty low

Try switching up your media every once in a while. I rotate MEA and PDA regularly. I need to try some other recipes like DFA and BRF.

OK imma try to answer all those in one post.
I used to do 8.5grams I just upped it to 10 to see if anything would change.
I will I have different malts to use but I mean I just didn't my 3rd transfer from clone and I didn't think I'd need to rotate media already?
Yeah my fully grown plates look like the left side of your dish. I'll snap a pic when I get back to the other house. Nice pic

SHIT. so my wife says 'guess what?! i got us a hotel and all these sexy outfits for a weekend at the beach! we leave tomorrow!!'
first i get hard. i admit.
then i had a sinking feeling i only get when i see dead things. i saw it when my cat dropped dead, when i saw someone die... when i see trich ..aannd now this.
daaaamn i got 1 tray pinning, 2 shoeboxes just put into fruiting.. 3 more colonizing. plus a mono i made last night. oh yah, and my debris jar which aint fruitin shit so far. the mono has iffy spawn so im not concerned by my tray+shoe box has pins... wont be back until sunday late afternoon.
so i got my light on a timer but god damn. im excited yet so pissed. best case ill come home to a spore dump... or maybe they will be juuuuuust right.

Hey guys,
would you spawn this jar? Actually I need this jar to have enough spawn for a mini mono but I'm afraid that it could ruin the whole batch after spawned.
It looks good and recovered after 48 hours, but this big white ball looks like it's bacterial (marked red)

What you say?

looks good. if it recovered and smells good not much else you can do but fruit it! you can always fruit it by itself if you are really worried though.

I don't have the greatest luck with WBS yet. PF was always real hearty. Could I make quarts of PF, in jars with SFD lids, skip the dry verm, and shake them as they colonize? Then spawn that to bulk? Any reason why not?

You have trays? And shoeboxes? I've actually had some success postponing a spore dump for 2 days by throwing a dub tub in the fridge.. When do you leave? If it's for 2 or 3 days I'd consider moving them in there if you are convinced they are gonna mature when you are gone. Maybe if you clean out your fridge of perishables and turn the cool up a little to like the 1 or 2 setting (5 or 6 being the coldest) and just slow the growth a bit, and I've only got one instance but I knew that culture and it did in fact stop the spore drop because of the cold.
Idk though but we all know how the fridge can put a mute button sometimes on a culture. IME it can do the same with a fruiting tub.

I'm doing this right now. I did 2 layers of micro pore though and shot LI down the sides. They look great but if I was to do it again I'd have done all 4 sides. It takes a long time considering half pints are done in 5 days and over with in 2 weeks.
