You can pressure cook cubes and they'll still have reasonable potency, so it's not that.

So is 95% water gone cracker dry? Mine were not entirely dry, too eager to get them out of the dehydrator. Soooo...I redid them to cracker dry, trouble is I'm up to 7g dry with meh results.

My fault..but it does explain why the old "10:1" ratio doesnt always apply. Seems like yours was 20:1. But yeah, no worries. Chow down.

don't get too picky about your plates, diversity is key when using spores, it's not like cubes where testing cultures takes a few weeks lol, your lucky to see them fruit more than once a year

Hopefully myc likes it nice n lightly processed. Grains kinda plumped up mostly as normal yet didn't require a full boil.
So far it's perfect. Should have weighed it to compare with my other grains, but it seems to be denser than my oats, and super easy to hydrate without problems in either direction, just stir and check for doneness/plumpness. I figure because it's cracked you don't have to cook it as heavily to force hydration and so the grain is more structurally intact than such a prolonged boil. Suppose I need to try a soak no simmer on oats to really get an image of the whole picture.
Had 1 bag of 4 pop in the PC during cooldown. I've tried sealed and unsealed accordion folded with similar problems of bags expanding and breaking. Do I need to position the filter patch so it can breathe? Salvaged the grain and just divvied it into jars. The popped bags definitely is more problematic if loaded with less than 4 ~5qt bags. Wasted time and supplies sucks.

Do you bags like this. Get all the air out if you pre seal with zip ties.

How would I go about cloning this in the best way? Grab it with flame sterilized tweezers and cut the base with the red hot scalpel and drop it onto a new plate? Is dissecting still best practice? How tf would I do that when I can barely do transfers without fucking up?

Easier with a scalpel ime. No dissecting, just take the whole pin from the base.

Yooo guys! i put some spores from a 2018 p.caerulescens print i obtained through a give away on here awhile back. I did 4 plates with a generous clump of spores on each not expecting much to happen and all 4 have mycelium growing from the site i dropped the spores on.
What's next?
Transfers from each plate or should i put 3 in the fridge and work off one for now?

Best part about cloning plate pins is they should be totally sterile. So like he said no need to cut it open trying to get a clean piece.
I usually just spear the pin and pop it off. Going to a new plate is the smart move but you could just drop the whole pin into a jar and it’ll act just like an agar wedge.

I can tell you this Teasippinhippie I made an LC multi culture from a T1 plate and I did two quarts of millet/wheat and two bulk bags. The spawn is exceptionally slow but the bulk bags are much faster so that would be my suggestion but this was my first culture so maybe it was that. I don’t really know but I’m making up some more bulk bags for the LC tonight. C10 had success recently with caerulescens and a lot of other member have as well.

So I have a question for some folks.
How often do people end up having contams that they are able to track back to their water? Is it pretty common?
I've been having some trouble lately, and either it's something going on with grain transfers, or the water I use to spray down my tanks. (At least, that what I feel I've narrowed it down to, it could always be something else).

I can only think of one time somebody thought water was causing problems, and it was from a well.
It’s almost definitely the culture or sterile technique.
