watch out for that trich coir, its true that some brands have added it
you can use this coir, i have done so, but they all triched after the first flush, which makes sense. i did pasteurize it or prepare it in some way, knowing it looked like this:

What do I got here, its part of my semi agar work:

If I were to PC a few different items simultaneously such as, jar of agar slants, agar for petris in a media bottle, a single jar of grain and a nutritious broth for an LC, how would I go about doing this? I have a 23 qt presto. I know the grain has to go for like 2 hours so that’s out. Any tips appreciated
Also after making a LC jar and inoculating with a clean agar wedge, can I just pour it into grain jars? I hate syringes. Also How do you properly store a LC?
If leaving the jar of grain out (which you should, it takes too long) then just PC that stuff for 20ish minutes. It should all be fine.
As for the LC, yeah it's perfectly fine to pour. I just started LC a couple months ago, but pouring works just fine. Syringes are great too. Personal preference. Store it at room temp on a shelf

No problemo.
I know you're not using syringes ATM, but just remember if you decide to you need a modded lid for it to work. I realized that the stupid way dont know how it slipped my mind. That's assuming you're using a SHIP

Starting over after everything has been cleaned up. Sucked that things ended the way they did but I ended up with enough dry fruits to fill the deep freeze with vacuum sealed bags and had to stuff some in the upstairs freezer too.
Been hell-prepping 200kg of WBS and 250kg of oats. Got my stir plates spinning a few quarts of PE6 and Golden Mammoth LC. Once that's all knocked up I've got PE Uncut, APE and Melmac enroute. Gonna be a good time.
Trying to get myself motivated and pumped up, burnt out here haha.

Yeah I’m tryna avoid using a SHIP for now until I’m confident I can get a clean LC. I do have old syringes that are empty though, would prob need more LL needles tho. My agar cultures look okay but they still could be bacterial. I feel stupid pcing one media bottle so it would be nice to get more things going at once.

That is a very, very large amount of grain.

And I do it all with my 23qt presto and help from Bolivian marching powder. I'd sleep more if Presto/AA would ever get stock and I could double my efficiency.

If you cant find coir, try chemical free, no additive paper pellets.

----
Here I am making WL-Tek with added tea (illustration).

====
Paper pellets (no tea), have a lower chance to contaminate (phenols removed, e.g. lignin), than wood or coir, and has a good pH (7+). There's no sugar or starch, and since the phenols are removed, it's mostly all complex cellulose as carbon.
Note: Mold, and other lignicolous fungi can germinate utilizing plant phenols.

Pastywhyte said: I checked their website and they say nothing about trich being added. Usually there is a hint like “myco activated” or something in the description. Their website says it’s nothing but freshwater retted coir. Usually I can smell the trich in blocks treated with it. But at any rate I’m so far experiencing 100% success with it. Fingers crossed.
Second half of the second paragraph:
"Furthermore, it contains a special fungus (Trichoderma), which protects the plants from ground diseases."
https://www.planetnatural.com/product/canna-coco/
I had success until I didn't, which is a shame due to the high quality of the coir. I'm aware that trich is everywhere in our environment, however it is obviously entirely different if the substrate is intentionally saturated with trichoderma spores; otherwise the inoculation of those spores would be redundant due to sufficient environmental conditions that favor the presence of those particular spores.
Let me know how it turns out for you.
I will be sure to keep you posted. So far I got 6 tubs that put out three flushes, two on their second flush, and pins setting up in another 6 or so. No sign of trich yet.
I do notice two things about that link, first it’s a distributor not the canna website. Second is that particular bag is discontinued and they seem to have done a bit of a rebrand recently. The loose stuff may indeed have trich, but I’m not sure it’s the same product what I’m using.

I'm back to eco earth since my home hardware doesn't have the beyond peat anymore
Searching for new 5kg brick source, thinking of trying some hydro shops
I found a fairly large chunk of rusted metal in the last brick of eco earth

Same with the shops around me , seems to risky buyin shit instead of doing it my self , i kno some pll with. 250+ tub operation goin and theyre using pre pasturized poo/coir/verm and pre made bags of spawn , its workin for now but its only a matter of time til it blows up in there face, having someone you dont kno making your spawn and sub and trusting them to be spot on forever seems foolish

Wizards of Shroomery, I'm looking for a 24"x36" (36" inches being the horizontal) hepa filter if anyone knows any good deals. Feeling pretty restricted by my 24x24 lately. Not looking for a fan or completed hood, just a HEPA.
