Best way to get a pe spore swab? Wait til the veil breaks and use a sterile swab to swipe the gills and then store in a culture tube ? Any tips appreciated

That’s pretty much it.. be quick about it.. try to maintain as close to no air currents as possible. Open the clean swab right next to the fruit you’re swabbing and have the sterile tube or storage container right there so the exposure to the air is as short as possible

chewy has a good deal on eco earth 3 packs
orders over $49 get free shipping, and if you sign up for autoship ( you can cancel before it renews) you get an extra 30% off your 1st order.
I just bought 7 3-packs (21 bricks) for $40.13 out the door

I gotta say I’m loving the Canna coir. Such a consistent grade, it’s literally high quality coir. Even despite the higher cost I’ll never go back to pet bricks.

I’m sure you can, I’ve just been getting it at the local hydro shop. Shipping anything to Canada costs more than it should so I try to buy my media and substrate materials locally.

It was my favorite, such awesome smooth consistency....they do inoculate it with trich from the factory though and my last batch did nothing but stall and trich out on me. I believe c10 had the same issue.

I had a similar issue a few months back... not sure what brand I have right now but its been very consistent for me lately. I believe the wife got it for me from the hydro store. Will update after work... lol

3Rd Flush:
Do you think it’s ok? Is it bacterial blotch or pseudomonas in the cap?

I checked their website and they say nothing about trich being added. Usually there is a hint like “myco activated” or something in the description. Their website says it’s nothing but freshwater retted coir. Usually I can smell the trich in blocks treated with it. But at any rate I’m so far experiencing 100% success with it. Fingers crossed.

Is field capacity in line with the dry weight multiplied by 5 theory or wpuld that make it under/over saturated? I passed up canna coir and got something else instead. I'm now regretting that decision.

From cannagardening.com
“Remember that coco is a `living substrate’ and it should be treated as an entire eco-system which consists of beneficial microbes who make their home in the coco particles. This beneficial microbial life plays an important role in soilless systems as many fungi have a protectant effect on the plant’s root system and have been proven to suppress plant pathogens as well as other possible benefits with nutrient uptake and plant growth. While other growing substrates start out as ster best left in its original state or even inoculated with populations of beneficial microbes such as Trichoderma. These populations of beneficial microbes in coco are to be encouraged and for that reason harsh sterilising chemicals such as chlorine bleach, hydrogen peroxide and even boiling water should not be used on coco substrates at any stage.”
There’s a typo at the important part so I’m still a little confused. Even if it were full of trich wouldn’t pasteurizing/bucket tekking/sterilizing kill all the mold in it? Does dead trich leave behind anti fungals that could weaken the mycelium enough to lead to infection?

Second half of the second paragraph:
"Furthermore, it contains a special fungus (Trichoderma), which protects the plants from ground diseases."
https://www.planetnatural.com/product/canna-coco/
I had success until I didn't, which is a shame due to the high quality of the coir. I'm aware that trich is everywhere in our environment, however it is obviously entirely different if the substrate is intentionally saturated with trichoderma spores; otherwise the inoculation of those spores would be redundant due to sufficient environmental conditions that favor the presence of those particular spores.
Let me know how it turns out for you.

A few questions;
If I were to PC a few different items simultaneously such as, jar of agar slants, agar for petris in a media bottle, a single jar of grain and a nutritious broth for an LC, how would I go about doing this? I have a 23 qt presto. I know the grain has to go for like 2 hours so that’s out. Any tips appreciated
Also after making a LC jar and inoculating with a clean agar wedge, can I just pour it into grain jars? I hate syringes. Also How do you properly store a LC?
