Grains that were fully colonized, but smelled sweetish with a sour note, as opposed to the mushroom smell coming from another fully colonized batch of grain spawn. I learned the hard way that it's best to not use those for G2G transfers (they caught trich and turned green). The tub I mixed that spawn into grew far slower while slowly losing that smell, it resulted in smaller fruit covering less than half of the surface. To be honest I didn't expect getting that much out of them, but here we are.

A.k.a said: Making super soft agar plates that liquify when you shake them in grain jars are great too. Basically the same thing but no blender.
This would have been my preferred approach but I was given some clean cultures on VERY solid agar, so I decided to make a blender lid. When I came up on a dozen blades I figured "why the fuck not" since I happened to have a case of 12 regular mouth half pints to go with them that I wouldn't use for anything else anyways. I was a moron and didn't secure shit when I went to put an experimental ship on a couple of them. Ouch.

Working hard on learning about the semilancaeata species. Finally got a jar that I believe is a colonized jar of semilanceata.

from the left: cube, hogshagenii, and what i believe to be semi myc
anyone else here on shroomery help a fellow out with identifying colonizing semi myc or know about pictures of said myc? it would really help me in understanding how the semi myc is supposed to look
i thought this would be easy for the shroomery, babyplay its cultivated from a wild sample, and cleaned up several times on agar before being transferred from agar to coriander seeds, and the growth looks very similar to pseudoaztec on coriander seeds as well which i also have a picture of if needed
is the shit to the right true mycelium?
found this:
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24989187
old post about it, but still hard to tell
this looks completely different:

What is mycelium, what is greymold or white mold?
Source: a 1/6th of a wild semilanceata sporeprint
Im working with a wild semi sample, and all of these are from the same original wild printed source.
Is there anything you both see as clean and as mycelium?
I'm about to make 3 control plates from another wild semi source to compare. I've never actually seen semi mycelium before, so I dont know what it looks like.

I can't help you with that species, but I'm so curious about the grain in your pic, what is it?

And what about this?

This looks alot like the jars of that guy. This growth in the jar now looks fucked. What if that was the semi lanceata?

Interesting. Both times I tried UB TEK, I got a similar smell. I learned my lesson with that janky bullshit, but I'm still curious what that smell was. So you think it was trich? I'm about as noob as you can get, so excuse my ignorance, please.

Bacterial contamination can lead to trich since it weakens the myc

Do you guys get pre-colonised kits in the US? I was just reading the "kits suck" link in gizmos sig, and dawned on me that most the time you guys talk about kits it's a diy job. My first "grow" was a small 600ml tub of precolonised sub. Just took the lid off, put it in a clear plastic bag and folded over the top. I do agree kits suck btw.

Lol, ya same deal I suppose. Dunk it and introduce fae. Kinda glad I never saw those kits ye have when I started. I've only just started thinking about hygrometers and such but it's certainly not for cubes.
