Millet and milo should colonize faster than plain WBS and wheat. More inoculation points, more surface area for the myc to grab onto.

I thought oats and wheat were faster in the beginning because of the broad surface area of the grain, the mycelium runs across the surface faster. Whereas the many nocc points of the milo or millet take a little longer to have the mycelium weave through it all and consolidate, but it in turn colonized the eventual substrate faster because of said nocc points so in the end is fairly even in the amount of time it takes you to produce mush.

Iโ€™ve always seen wbs praised because of the super quick colonization. However, I never thought of it being faster because of the millet/milo. I just assumed something about varied nute sources made the myc run faster but I guess people are mostly comparing it to bigger cereal grains like oats/wheat/rye/barley

I canโ€™t remember who it was but I think I remember someone a couple pages back saying something about mixing millet and a cereal grain and preferring it to straight millet. Canโ€™t remember why though

Fast colonization?  All you need is one of these and a half gallon jar will colonize in 4 days.

Here's a jar of wheat on day 4 after inoculation with 30ml of slurry.

One question I do have is where exactly are the holes supposed to be put in a monotub. The Tek I have been using is a 66qt, but if I was wanting to use for example a 17qt tub where would the holes need to be placed?

Making super soft agar plates that liquify when you shake them in grain jars are great too. Basically the same thing but no blender.

You can silicone the blade assembly directly to a jar lid without any cutting bullshit.

I've left my bacterial spawn tub unattended for a bit more than a day and was greeted by a flush with some spores on the caps. It amounted to 200g wet, I expect anything between 10 and 20g dry. Currently soaking it for 4 hours for the follow-up flush. My greatest worry is that I'll have to leave two tubs alone for the weekend. From your experiences, how much time can one expect between flushes and are there tricks to lengthen it or is there no point to that?

LemonTekno, you should be good for over the weekend. I'd sya around a week is where you can expect a second flush to open their veils.

What do you mean by bacterial spawn?
