Yer right tryp! I'm torn between holes sizes. I suppose start with a small tomato paste can to cut the hole. But bumping would invalidate the "hole" deal.

Wait are you saying you have to build an SAB every time you wanna use one? How big should the arm holes be? Is there an SAB tek to follow?

No it will give you years of good service or a least till you get a flowhood!
I had to raise my holes, 4" coffee cans work. Sit in front of the SAB, imagine putting yer hands through and working.
Zifozonk, So ya that's a serious approach. I like the incense idea, gonna checkout the air currents. Put on some Ravi Shankar! Me, incense and Ravi rockin the agar!

That is some cool shit right there for sure. Getting me excited. I took some prints from my first grow of a couple chonky's and a nice cluster but I know they are probably dirty now so I'm hoping I can isolate with the agar plates. What do you use for gloves inside the SAB? Do you just tape them to wrap the hole as well?

In my flowhood build guide theres a pic of my old custom plexi SAB, thing was pretty dope for a sab. I built it into a closet to help block air currents

I think you're referring to a glove box. That's out of date now. Gloves are in, no powder. Mask, now we have lots around right. A rack like 3" high.

Interesting. So you don’t have to seal the arm holes? Should the holes be on the short sides of the tub or both on the one long side?

My old SABs, a super ghetto standard one before i built the custom ghetto decent one
Lights and hinged doors helped tremendously for bags, and being in a closet made aircurrents all but non existent

Perfect! I wonder if my dab torch will be good enough to burn in the arm holes. Looks really easy.

boys this is the tub im hoping will garner some attention later, hogshagenii, its said to be a slow fruited, currently one week into fruiting
Whaddya think? will this tub fruit hogshagenii and elevate me above cubensis commoners
Conditions are prime, beads of water, but the air will get stale with smal holes for slow evaporation since its aslow pinner.
leave it alone or try to stimulate it some? lower temperatures, more FAE?

I have no experience w that species
What sub did you use? Casing?
I did finally get my caerulescens to fruit after 3 months in the FC and literal moss growing on the casing. But they are tricky af. So much can go wrong before slow fruiting species fruit
BTW i finally launched that Fail Thread , would be awesome if some of yall chime in!!

Just finished prepping 50kg of WBS and holy fuck is it annoying. The little black balls go right through my mesh strainer so I had to go get other stuff to build a new one with smaller holes.
Built a 4x4 aluminum mesh drying table yesterday, I dumped the strained WBS on it and it sounded like rain as a hundred of those lil black balls fell through.
Oats were grand but if this works better I'll retool specifically for it for sure.

Would you G2G these jars once they're fully colonized?
They were inoculated with LI I made with one of the few cultures I was confident was clean. Only potential problem is that when I was shaking up the LI I used a jar with a plastic lid and a little bit of water would come out. Don't think that really let anything into the LI though.
Also, if I'm inoculating with LI, is it fully colonized when it looks fully colonized on the outside or should I give it another day or two to fully consolidate on the inside?
This was the plate:

These are the jars:

To my eye they look pretty damn clean but this will be my first time G2Ging and want to be sure they're okay before I go ahead. There are a few very very tiny wet presumably bacterial spots but they're barely noticeable.

Speaking of SABs I made this about a year ago and have been very happy with it. It looks this those holes most people cut would hurt your arms or you would actually have to hold you arms up.
I went to Home Depot and got toilet flanges and bolted them on and sealed with clear silicone caulk and I can lay my arms in the holes and with my arms in there there is only a small gap where air could get in if it ever had the chance. It makes things much easier. Just a suggestion. I have a flow hood filter sitting in my grow room now I need to make the housing once the fan comes in. Then this is probably going in the trash. Or I’ll use it to store my plates.

That SAB is wicked. I’m definitely gonna check out the toilet flange idea. How did you cut the holes and did you just use non-powdered latex gloves that have been isi-propyled.
