So i've recently been getting better at agar and pulling some really nice plates. But I feel I have a "problem" so to speak.
I got like 20 nice plates I want to use but it's just to easy to g2g one jar and make 10 more quick and easy. I'm wanting to try all the plates but I end up just using one or two to make a shit ton of jars.
I have like 2 plates each of 10 different clones I want to try out but I feel like the agar is going to dry up in the fridge before I get to it
I feel stuck between the easy factor of using LI and G2G to make like 10 more jars of the same thing, and getting 20 more tubs just to test these things.
I wish I had a bigger shroom room

I would begin with slanting up ASAP, so you can reference these cultures later as needed. Slanting is a super robust method that you absolutely will not regret learning.
Also, aint nuthin to it but to do it, my friend.

Yeah I learned about slanting from some of the handy dandy TC's not to long ago. I intend to start doing that here soon I suppose that would be the answer to my problem. It looks simple enough.
DARN tootin gotta do it. I want to have 20-30 tubs to be honest. I just recently bought a shelf from home depot so I can hold at least 8-10 66qts on. I have no idea what i'd do with 30 tubs worth of mushy boys but other than to be proud that I did it

I read hamloaf's tek here: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25019217#25019217
It's the tek i'm going to use when I start.
He puts his in jars then PC's so yes they are PP5 I presume.

Is that because cube genetics mutate faster than gourmet strains? Do gourmet companies like Aloha sell spawn as monocultures? I assumed, not sure. How do they preserve and grow/sell these over years?

I'm excited to slant up, I have two GT clones i'm particularly scared of losing because they produced some phat clusters. So far i've only done GT and Argentinian that have been moved to grains. But I have some Thai Koh that I started in BRF jars from syringe just so I can get some fruits to clone.
Excited to see how those turn out so I can slant those to!
I bought way to many syringes when I first started out, at least 12 different cultures. I need to grow all those out on some BRF just so I can get fruits from each one. So now the goal is to have 2-4 clones of each culture slanted so I can get all those damn syringes out of my fridge

I feel your pain. It's really relaxing having a big bank of slants just waiting to be inoculated. Any time I get a nice looking plate, I always know I can just slant it up and not worry about it for a couple years - huge relief. And it keeps me working with myc, not relying on spores.

Agar has become one of my favorite but most stressful hobbies as of lately because of that exact thing lol. I get these nice plates and don't want it to turn into a dry puck like some of my plates have in just a short couple months I should have tried slanting sooner but I think i've made pretty good progress considering I haven't even been doing this 6 months yet
I tried to read for about 3-4 months before even attempting anything but I still learn something new every single time I get on here. Gotta love it.
Yeah spore syringes were a great start for me but now I realize I went way overboard on them. Hell I've used 2 syringes and have grown 5 tubs and have enough agar to last 50 more already lol.

Personally I skipped the whole SGFC thing with cakes and went straight to taking them to bulk. Looks like you got some decent fruits though. I feel you should probably cut down the foil more to be just around the cake. Just make sure you keep it misted and fanned if you are using SGFC.
If you do cakes you should try shredding them to coir.
My first tub with 10 cakes:
When I harvested them all at full maturity it was about 900g wet. Seemed like the best way to use cakes in my opinion.

But 9 g per cake is something you could get from just in vitro, or top fruiting them. 9gs is one of my shrooms
bigger is better, spawn to tubs and boxes 4 lyfe
if we are only get 9gs dry from each quarts you spawn to coir, its pretty normal/average result
true skills would be high yields from a perfect ratio of coir:spawn thats not something totally pussy like 1:1 or 1:2

I think I had an entire run of plates that are junk now. Something doesn't look right on the t2 transfers. Like the mycelium went invisible/under the agar. I used new syringes that I inoculated ms plates with and the t1s looked normal but it seems like the t2s all look about the same, shiny and it looks like the mycelium is growing under the surface of the agar. I feel like I either transferred bacteria or the slightly higher nute agar is making everything look different. What do you guys think.
