Did some more reading and maybe the other suggestion (containers with apple cider vinegar and drop of soap) will work better if they are actually fruit flies.

Few drops of essential peppermint oil in your mister will take care of gnats (and also make your sub smell like it's just brushed its teeth).

I meant to try that a couple months back when the problem got really bad but I never got around to it.
Think I Forgot about it. Was probably you who mentioned it back then . Thanks
Will definitely give that a try next time. They usually only affect me in the summer months I have never had an issue from October to June

I remember when I first started and the whole house was infested with fungus gnats because someone left me a big bag of whole wheat and fungus gnats took that bag over... they were everywhere to say the least. I used traps specifically for fungus gnats that have some kind of sent that traps the males or females in there I forget. They got rid of the problem though and we had to keep all our grains and sugary stuff sealed airtight in bags for a month or so. Lil buggers are so annoying! We also sprayed some special bug spray around the corners of the home and swatted whatever was left when we saw them. Some of my tubs were also infested and I was also starting LF seedlings that got infested.

Im thinking somebody else told you and I got wind of it and got me some. It doesn't even kill them I believe but they just don't wanna be around the sub anymore and the numbers dwindled to about 1pct of the original problem in a few days. Dead gnats used to be everywhere in our house and not anymore

What’s going on with my second flushes. A lot of the shrooms are covered in myc and seem shorter and are starting to blue near the sub. Any idea how to mediate this for future grows. Soaked em all for a couple hrs after first flush. I read RR notes afterwards and he said he likes his subs to dry for a week after first flush and then soaks.

Those are definitely too dry. A mist might help but you definitely need to dial shit in better next time.

Definately too dry, but the fact the caps arent completely blue tells me they arent aborts yet.
Try a heavy mist followed by bottom watering

I recommend adding like one drop of dish soap as well. That helps to cause the peppermint oil to stay suspended in the liquid and mist. Otherwise, it wants to separate and float to the top of the water bottle. I have been using this for all of my misting and even wetting my sab because it just smells nice and the mushrooms don't seem to mind at all.

A question on fruiting
When using a casing layer what is the optimum time to introduce fruiting? 50% colonization? 80%? 100%? In the past I've had trouble with overlay and I think I may be introducing fruiting too late.
Edit: I just read cubes don't overlay so there's that
