Hey guys,it's been awhile, but some of you might remember me.
I'm starting from scratch, which sucks cause I lost so many amazing prints and cultures. I was gonna drop a post in the marketplace but figured I'd be more likely to get a hand from someone in here.
If anyone would be willing to send me a spore syringe that would be immensely appreciated. I'm just gonna do pf tek,I don't have the space for a setup like my old one.
Feels good to be back, how's everyone doing? What have I missed during my hiatus?

Yeah I use MEA probably 90% of the time. Only other I'll use is brf and grain water occasionally. Nothing wrong with any other recipe. Those are just easiest for me to use and get materials for
I have read some people say that cultures grown out on grain water agar seem to colonize faster once they go to grain, but I've never seen anyone test that in a manner that displayed conclusive evidence that the increased colonization speed was predominately due to the agar content instead of it being from a vigorous culture, conditions, healthier spawn, etc. That may be what you're thinking about

I’ve tried grainwater agar but I think it’s hard to get the nutes consistent across batches. When transferring otherwise healthy cultures to gwa from mea the growth always went completely translucent and shiny like it was bacterial. Dry nutes are just so much more consistent
I think the reason people say grain agar takes off faster is because the myc is already trained to use enzymes for consuming grains

Same for me! I started out with LME and almost went crazy because germination took ages and the cultures always looked super bad. Then I switched to whole-grain wheat flour (WFA) or GWA and all my problems disappeared. Some long time ago I did a side by side comparison but could not finish it to write a report on it, but here is a GT clone on MEA:

and on GWA:

First time playing with LC and all jars have colonized to this point in a week, with a shake at 50%
Rookie move, but food coloring was added to LC if you notice the dots of green/blue.
Streak plate from LC. Does this look normal?

Or use 4.5 in each tub and use the cleanest jar from that to make another 10 jars.
The plate is a shitty photo but it looks a bit like freshly germinated culture. Another picture please

Speaking of lc does anybody have experience with rusty lids on them??
I wasn’t paying attention and used one that I haven’t siliconed the bottom of and today I noticed some rust particles on the bottom of the lc.

I should imagine if the rust is from the inside it will be sterile. Can it poison the environment....... Not sure.

Delivered. Really hard to get a focused image on these, but as follows, 6 current qts in the same state, the LC that was used (pour method), and some hopefully better photos of the plate used to test the LC.

Edit: From what I've seen, these jars are at about 90% colonized. Wait until the myc has completely overtaken the millet before moving to bulk or g2g?

That's a huge relief.
Appreciate all the eyes on this. Learning all of this is very difficult, and all I have is to cross reference what I have vs. what others have posted.
Timeline for the jars went MSS > BRF puck > MEA t1 > MEA t2 > MEA t3 > ME LC > EZ prep millet

Millet although I love it never looks 100% ready to use. Those jars look ready to me.
Never anything wrong with giving it another day or 2 though.

I made a post about dealing with my basement grow-room contamination with some hints, pointers and instructions for anyone dealing with the same thing or possibly looking for an effective means to increase FAE in a room without fucking up your homes environmental envelope or poisoning yourself with CO2.
Mentioned it many pages back I ended up in the hospital and what started as a handful of contaminated tubs spread to 40+.. and the floor joists, ducts and stairs. A rainbow of horrible mold.

I just took out my cake (which flushed yesterday) from the dunk, and jesus christ it is completely blue, all over, lol. Do cakes like these potentially flush again or am I best off tossing it? Fruiting stressed the hell out of it for some reason. Literally like a blue crayon drew all over it.
