I can’t help it AKA lol. I spread the word of people I like a lot, idk who pays attention but I figure someone will see a lyrical quote and search it up and find good music they hadn’t heard before. And for those who already know it’s just a reminder to jam out

Damn I remember AIM lol. That was the shit back in the day. I had that back when someone could call our house phone and kick me off the internet
And I’m glad we had this conversation because I had completely forgotten about that song. I probably haven’t heard it in 15 years. You see shroomery? It works

A good album to be sure. I loved Robin the hood though. Cisco Kid is a grand musical escapade. The Scarlet Begonias cover on 40oz is a fantastic song as well.
Mushroom cult etc etc. Spray the cakes not the sides, no need for soapy water in a SAB, plain water is much easier to clean up and see through. Some folks even go dry, though I’m skert.
Jcm - I’ll be putting pan spores to agar this night. It be on

Would you guys flip this if you were me? I noticed the fat shroom on top is probably an abort since it stopped growing, but at the bottom there are these clumps of growing mushrooms which are actually lifting the cake.

Don’t flip it, they are favoring the bottom conditions because there’s more moisture down there. I’ve flipped cakes with success before but they will grow ether way.
I have a question of my own. I’m looking to get into edible and medicinal mushrooms. I already have all the equipment like wbs, oats, vermiculite, gypsum, shoeboxes, cooler for substrate and everything for agar and prep. What mushrooms grow under the same conditions as actives or do I need different stuff completely? Links on Tek’s would be great too.

If you want to do any worth while gourmet cultivation you'll need to build a greenhouse. Most gourmets do terribly in totes of any size.
For shiitake, lions mane, oysters, etc. you'll need bags. You'll also need hardwood in the form of compressed pellets or sawdust.
Cubes require far less FAE than gourmets do. The only medicinal that requires no fae is reishi if you are just interested in antlers

Oh man, I wasn’t aware it would be so much work. I am interested in growing reishi antlers, always thought they looked cool and I like the medicinal properties they offer. I don’t have the space for a greenhouse in my room. I am open to doing bag grows though. I’ll do more research and see where it leads me. May just bring some of the equipment I got for actives back and buy what I need for edibles/medicinals.
I long for the day actives are decriminalized.

You still need pcs, agar, jars etc for gourmet and med cultivation.
My 1st gh was made from one of those plastic racks from walmart. You know, the 5 tier 7'x3'x2' plastic shelving units. I just wrapped it in plastic drop cloth and made a door for it
It fits in the corner of a room no problem. You can kind of see it here

You'll need to figure out a humidification/FAE system to maintain conditions.
Inkbird is your friend

Agree with what nate said. However, you can use a larger grow tent no problem...I’ve grown oysters, maitake, shiitake and lions mane very well in a grow tent in my basement. If growing oysters, you have to ensure the spore load is being exhausted outside of your living space as they can quickly cause “spore lung”, allergies to spore which have acute symptoms and even lung cancer. Basically, all around lung issues, which can develop from breathing any fine particulate en mass and for prolonged periods of exposure. Reishi is a fun one and as mentioned grows very well in bags with no need for air.
A wick humidifier, inkbird humidistat and bilge fans along with basic lighting and you’re good to go.

Bilge fan for exhaust after a month or so of small oysters runs.

Nice dude! My outlet fan gets seriously caked when I run shiitake. Shit even lions mane produces a lot of spores.
Spore load is a serious issue for sure with edible cult.
Not knocking capsmcgee in the least, but he does lots of oysters in open conditions in a room in his house. That shit can be dangerous if youre not using a sporeless culture.
Shit even cube spores freak me out a bit.

Very true...I was also thinking of reishi if growing conchs...they produce a ton. Safe to say, if growing gourmet, exhaust your grow chamber! Also, as you mentioned, they love FAE and you’ll just have better fruit, less contam issues with good air movement. You can’t tell but the spore deposit on that fan was like 1/8 inch deep...crazy!
Marty Mycfly who used to post in gourmet developed spore lung from not wearing a respirator in his oyster house and then couldn’t get near the space without becoming extremely ill. Scary shit.

This is definitely true. I have a couple buddies who think they want to start growing cubes, but I try to explain the only real way they can learn is to read read read and go through trial and error process.
They want me to show them everything, step by step. Hold their hand the whole way.
fuck that. I'm down to help a friend out, give spores, cultures, whatever, but aint nobody got time for becoming a growing instructor

Large grow tents are the way to go, I plan on doing what this guy's doing sometime in the near future:

Thanks nate and myco for the advice. Gives me confidence to get on it soon! Should I at least bring back the verm, coir, shoeboxes And oats? Not sure if I’ll need those for edibles and such. I probably won’t be able to afford everything right away but can get things in pieces and put it all together. Could I at least start some agar with the edible spores? I’m really excited to try something new! Also can you grow reishi antlers in a shoebox?

Yeah for gourmets hwfp is crucial. King oysters and enoki you could pull off pretty easily because they’re purposely grown with less air than they’d like.
That spore dump in the fan is nuts. When does lions mane produce spores?? I’m assuming I never saw any because they weren’t getting enough air to grow teeth until the very end of my grow.
