Before I read it I will point out I just considered they're surely worthwhile as the restricted evaporation from the sub as well as the localized evaporation being more uniform generally results in nice pin cities.

I made the suggestion more so for the trimming aspect. You can do razor blades like I showed, or a hot knife like Edmunter showed. Ed's tek looks tits, I'm gonna be trying it next.

But wouldn’t the brick of coir or whatever your sub is block the light same as a liner??

lol idk.

Most of my shoeboxes get grocery bag liners that I cut down once I finish spawning. Some are developing pretty deep grooves from running the razor around the edge to cut the bag. It’s got me curious now like the tootsie pop owl. How many liners does it take?? Until I cut all the way through the tub.

DAMN! I am going to need to try that one. I was thinking of just cutting a wood template to put bags on, while it might be more environmentally kind it for sure wont be faster than that (assuming there isnt enough of a proper size of what he cut off.

Can we have blowing up a jar of agar in the microwave some kind rights of passage. Just curious because I did that for the first time this morning and my ego needs some repair.

Should have taken a picture. Green ooze EVERYWHERE.

Wow I was expecting a lot of nasty smoke when he put the hot blade to the bag. It’s nice with shoeboxes cuz I pull the bag over the sides and it fits nice and tight so once the blade cuts it the bag kind of snaps apart.

I used to just use little scissors but it’s just so easy to swing the scalpel around and be done.

I haven’t blown a bottle in the microwave yet but definitely in the pc. It made a nice thick broth.

I hear the legalization of “plant medicine” including mushrooms is going to be on the ballot this year. I’ve never voted in my life but I am this year! I wonder how they would ration it though. Would there be rules and such? Could you grow your own? I think they should 100% legalize it. Like Peter Tosh says, “legalize it”.

I doubt we are close to legalization of plant medicine yet.  Im expecting at least another decade before full legalization.
Weed isnt even legal federally.

Maybe like SF or something will try and break through that way with local legalization but good luck convincing the majority of the south and middle america to vote yes on that  i really do hope that there is progress with that and we see something on the ballot

It’s funny how prescription drugs are legal and how many people have they killed and made people go crazy? People commit suicide on those drugs, even worse when they try to get off them, how many deaths a year has shrooms caused? I want to know the statistics because it’s highly unfair. I think one of the main reasons they are illegal is because the government can’t profit off them, yet they profit off busting people, good people. Then our tax payer dollars go to “the war on drugs”. It’s a sad sad world.

Couldn't agree more man  it is too bad when research and progress has been hindered so much for psychedelics and yet prozac and ativan prescriptions are handed out by docs like candy on Halloween

Oregon has ballot measure 109 that would create psilocybin clinics

I hope those would be legit and accessible for regular people/poor people.  I always am skeptical that those places would just charge absurd amounts of money and just create more tourism for the rich and minimal opportunities for growth for the locals.

Ketamine clinics are an example of how be a turd legally with therapeutic psychoactive drugs.  Most people dont have $500-1000+ for a 30 minute ketamine session

I was heavily considering dropping a high load of my money of that before I found mushroom growing possibilities..

Yeah there’s places in Oakland that sell shrooms and shroom candy and stuff now that it’s decriminalized. Still not legal but happening. Just like weed pretty much.

I just saw something recently too about a ketamine nasal spray for depression. All kinds of new stuff.

The medical system is ridiculous without good insurance. At least methadone is free most places for now, I could see them doing a ketamine clinic the same way.

The ketamine spray is a solid step in the right direction for sure. I'm glad that's a thing.  Our state healthcare covers it actually, which makes me smile..

I share this problem, which is why I thought the hotknife cutter was a genius idea. I saw your dope write up (and edmunters video) the day you did it munch and I told myself that was the next liner tek I would try. The way yours made spawning such a breeze had me pumped. Then I saw the Edmunters video and I was like HELL yeah, these two things combined looked like a dream when I was just about to abandon liners altogether on my next run.

Although I like the idea of not cutting anything even better which is why I am now pumped about Eats "Stream-Liners". They require no cutting and clean up is the easiest I've seen. Also, a great way to quickly contain contaminated subs as well since you can immediately remove it from the grow space and bag it instantaneously with no fuss at all. You can even leave little tabs in the corners to help you get under a sub to lift it for harvest etc, and again it is it's own garbage bag for spent or contaminated subs which is nice to my eyes and workflow.

All in the same day I saw THREE game changing things for liners on the shroomery lol, kudos brethren.

Eat:

Pro tip- pre cut your liners and avoid that noise. Rolls of plastic drop cloth make it
super easy to precut liners

I have a method, maybe Ill do a little write up here soon.

I would have asked how one might keep a pre-cut liner in place while spawning if my man EAT hadn't dropped some game on me about getting a finger wet to run along the inside of the tub between it and the liner to get it to stick in place while you spawn. 🤯

Combining that with precut sounds gucci, but I like Eats stream liners for the easy clean up and for the the way you can leave corner tabs for handling and the rest looks super clean.

I'd love to see that write up big Nate! 🤘

Yo!

Two questions.

Question number the first: due to reasons I had to leave my shoe boxes unattended for two weeks just as they started fruiting. I got back to them, some had grown out and desiccated, seems like no contam, bone dry fruits. Others were still holding moisture seemed healthy, though a few were clearly past their prime. I ran them all through the dehydrator but kept em in those three categories. Think they are all good to eat? Any concerns with contamination as they begin to decompose or loss o potency in the ones that dried on the sub?

Question number the second: I also have a bunch of grain jars going, most have pins inside them now, some are fully colonized others as low as 50% colonization. Best course of action? Shake em all wait till they fully colonize and shoebox em, put a casing on em and fruit em out of the jar, or something in between?

Thanks in advance everyone!
