I have a question of my own guys. Was wondering if I mix my GT and AA+ jars in a shoebox together if they will grow both in the same box or cross with each other. I was looking around but couldn’t find anything worth finding. Would be cool to see some pictures too if anyone has some mixing two different spawn jars. I think I’ve done it once before but forgot how they turned out.
Stoner mind can’t think that far back, lol... just worried that they would pin/grow at different rates when mixed together. I’ve always used two quarts of spawn per shoebox with good results. If I do one it usually dries out and doesn’t produce as well.

You should be fine madhatter. Idk what the fruits will look like, but since they're both cubes there shouldn't be a problem with them mating

Also, I don't want to use the search engine for this question because 1. I'm terrible at it and it would take me days and 2. I think someone can easily define the terms.
What's an isolate and what's a culture? I remember reading something in i think GGMM that said after 3 agar transfers you have an isolate? Or is it a culture?
Sorry for the stupid question, I just feel dumb trying to explain things sometimes and feel it's important to get the nomenclature down to ensure I'm talking about the right thing

Im sure as hell not linking him anything until he learns how to USE THE FUCKING SEARCH ENGINE.
I lost my patience with him and he gave me 0 mushrooms. Even when I was the first person to tell him to ditch UB, get a SAB and come here instead of reddit. Thats why i don't refer to him directly plus I'm sure he blocked me.

The dimensions of the 250ml read as though I could stack two high if I put a trivet in between them... Thoughts? I'm hoping someone with a 23qt can chime in here.

junk_f00d said: Thanks, I've got the 1L agar media bottle right now and I've been using pint and quart jars for LC but just want something that pours a little cleaner. I wasn't sure if a 250ml would feel too small, but I liked the idea of fitting two stacks of them in my PC.
Unrelated question, but in Bod's Agar Tek, why does he recommend removing the lid from the PC once the pressure reaches 0 in order to tighten the cap? That seems like a bad idea, even if covered with foil; wouldn't the tempature difference you've introduced by opening the lid just draw in contams? Same reason you don't want to open your PC right away after cooking jars? I've always just put my media bottle in at normal tightness, snug but not cranked down, and let it cool down naturally. Is that suboptimal, and if so, why?
Media bottles are the shit. No matter what size you get, you won't regret it for a moment. As for sizing, that's up to you, but for some perspective, you only need 10mL (or less if you want to squeeze it) of LC per quart jar (or per quart per bag, ie. 4qt bag = 40mL). You can use a max of 20mL per quart, but then you might get into moisture issues. That should give you a good idea of what will work best for you. I use my 250mL bottles for LC and fill them right up to 250mL without issue, some folk like to use larger bottles and less volume.
Personally, i nabbed two small PCs (a 6qt and 10qt) for my 250mL and 500mL bottles, respectively so i wouldn't have to use the 23qt all the time. for 1L bottles, you'll need the big boi. About tightening the cap, the reason why he suggests tightening right away is because then there is less chance of it sucking in dirty air. When you crack the PC at 0 psi, the steam and water temp is still high enough that it kills off any nasties trying to sneak by you. Having said that, if you want to leave the PC alone until the whole thing cools off, then tighten the cap, that's fine too. The inside is sterile until you crack the lid (aaaand technically when you pull the weight off, but it's so minuscule that i don't believe it affects sterility too much).

Thanks for the reply dude. I’m just looking for people’s opinions and if someone has experience I would like to hear their results with possible pictures. I know they will be good, just wondering what will happen.

Just a quickie... So I'm gonna dump a couple shoeboxes in the garden. Trich'd out.
1. Would you just kinda plant the substrates whole? 2. Or break it up and turn it into the soil?

I might have pictures on my computer, ill upload them. I didn't cross any albinos or anything cool, but I did a shoebox with 2 cube varieties, one being "oak ridge" and the other "fiji". Idk how real these names are, but there were clear differences in their genetic makeup as the fiji was more aggressive in the jars and hit 100% a few days before the oak ridge. The pictures aren't anything special, so please keep your hopes realistically low lol
And inthepit I wouldn't recommend turning it into the soil unless you have some amendments they like in there, such as manure. You vould break it up and throw some shit or coir in there and bury it. But to each their own. I can tell you that burying it like a foot deep was too deep for any major flushes. I think i got 4 mushrooms in total outside and missed the time to pick any of them lol

These are the cross between the two varieties I was given. Don't judge me too hard lol. I know straw isn't good casing now, but this was my first grow lol

Sockadin mixed aa and one of the regular cubes and got a pretty cool cross. Sorta like aa+ but with a little color in the caps.

Myc_Hunt said: Fuck, can anyone just tell Rick to buy a brick of coir, soak that to field capacity where when squeezes it barely one or two drops comes out, steam sterilize it, lay it into a tub, dump the 2 jars onto it, break them up with gloves and top it with more coir? A small pencil case? A shoebox? Anything?
And yes, an air compresor. My grows are all within this plastic storage cabinet i got from home depot. I tried turning it into a cannabis grow tent a few years ago but gave up. So when I decided to do mycology it was an easy choice for my tubs. But now since I'm going for pans and with jcm's style of fruiting chamber I need my little compressor and it's loud af. I cant fit a steamer or fogger into my cabinet, so I built a box this weekend to house the compressor, reduce the noise and allows my fc to sit on top and higher which should make it easier to dial in.
I never blocked you, dude, and I rated you 0 because you rated me 0 for asking a damn question..after you were a dick to me also... Never had nothin against you.
I would do exactly what you suggest for these next jars but I only have a 6qt tub, and that seems to be too big, no? I don't want to add too much coir compared to my spawn.
@tryp jesus christ I use the search engine a lot, if I showed you my history you would see I've invested hours trying to find answers to this. Nobody wants their hand held I'm asking specifics to things to fully understand them.

Still getting used to WBS. What do you all think? Would you re prep this due to burst grains? Or you think it's good to go?

People seem to get hung up on exact measurements and sizes but that stuffs not important. As long as you’re anywhere remotely near what the teks recommend it’ll be fine.
If you have clean spawn there’s not really a way to have too much bulk unless you go out of your way.
