worth buying a laminar flowhood for a beginner cultivator? Or best to work with a SAB first?

I mean if you got it like that go for it. To me the question is how much you planning to grow? If your out to fill up some gallon ziplocks then get a hood. If your just trying to grow a few for your head an sab will def get you there. But if you have the money and are interested in this hobby enough to know your will use it than by all means treat yourself! If your handy at all building one is a good option and worth looking into.

Do Spores taste different from when they are in the gills to being released.

Right? That's the question I've been asking myself for years whenever the old "spores taste bad" pops up. So the spores in the gills don't alter taste but somehow when they get ejected they taste bad?
Doesn't make much sense.

So, I'm doing a g2g today but my master has been sitting a while and no amount of shaking is breaking it up. If it was going to coir I'd just use a spoon from the drawer but seeing as I'm going to grains I feel like I'm just going to increase my contam vectors. Suppose I could just chuck the spoon in the oven for 30 mins...
What way do you guys break it up?

The ovipositor is a tube-like organ used by some animals, especially insects for the laying of eggs. Wikipedia
Edit: Oh ya and also diatomaceous earth. "The fine powder adsorbs lipids from the waxy outer layer of the exoskeletons of many species of insects; this layer acts as a barrier that resists the loss of water vapor from the insect's body. Damaging the layer increases the evaporation of water from their bodies, so that they dehydrate, often fatally. " Wikipedia "mix every 50lb bag with about 2 cups of diatomaceous earth. No bugs, ever."

I turn the jar upside down and slam the side/bottom of the jar against the heel of my palm until it crumbles up. once it crumbles a little it's easy to shake the rest of the way. works on even the toughest consolidations, though on those really tough ones it hurts to bang on my palm too long so I will switch it up and bang it against something firm but with a little yield, like the arm of the couch or the rubber tire of my bike.

So I used my presto last night for some grain jars and now ithe gauge needle is stuck. Has anyone ever had this issue/know how to fix it?
I have dealt with that! The needle is likely getting stuck on the paper backing. GENTLY push the top of the gauge back, as if the gauge face/stem got bent forward. That should spring it back to life. I had set my lid upside down a few times and that is exactly what happened. A couple gentle pushes later, needle works perfect.

What about capping them? I do assume you've considered this, and with the amount you're dealing with, it's too time consuming.

Maybe the density/amount of the spores? I don't know this for sure, but i would assume the mushrooms don't produce/store all the spores it will ever make before the veil breaks. So harvesting early only allows a small percentage of spores to be formed. I could definitely be wrong, i've never looked into it.

Throw on my steel toes, and knock the jar against the thick rubber heel. Play some podcast and go to town!

Sterile spoon should be fine. Then after breaking it up you can just add a spoonful of grain to the new jars.
I always though shrooms got bigger in later flushes because the surface was full of stumps from before so it produces fewer but bigger shrooms.

Went through all my jars yesterday just looking and watching them. Noticed this bacterial slime looking shit on 1 of my jars
and this fly was dead on the inside of my ring Never did see how them fly’s nocc up my jars but I noticed there’s no real difference between my contaminated jars and the jars that are good. No difference at all . There’s 0 maggots in my oat jars I did 50 oat jars and 50 wbs . Only 21 of my wbs have maggots I wonder why not all of them?
I’ve heard of people having issues with sfd’s now ez felt could be my problem . I don’t really Trust my ability to stuff the Poly. What other option do I have for a filter? Or just keep using ez felt and keep screen wrapped around my jars

Tyvek disks work great.
The tub I got maggots in was so gross with the bacterial ooze.

I put it between the ring and lid. I run jars with tyvek when all my sfd's are in use. I like to use two layers of tyvek and after they have been pc'd twice they go in the trash. Two pc cycles is probably too much though, I'm just cheap.

Thanks I’m gonna try that out.
* update on my maggots . I found 1 in a jar with no filter metal lid... So maybe it’s not the filter....

It should be fine to melt and pour sterilized agar that's been in the fridge for like 5 days, right?
It's been closed tight in a media bottle the whole time
I normally pour it sooner, but I forgot about it until I just saw it
