Yeah it is! I’ve always used wbs and poured g2g pretty heavy so I haven’t ever shaken g2g jars I don’t think. Usually I add enough colonized seed that it’s like skipping right to shaking a normal wedge jar.

Yeah, exactly! May shake them anyways to see how they recover. But I think at this point they'd probably be faster to 100% if I didn't shake.
It snuck up on me and they're at like almost 70% 5 days after g2g. Wasn't too heavy poured. 1 to 7 jars. I didn't have enough grain prepped for 1:10. Even if I start using another grain, I might start making all my g2g master jars from wbs

So don't wait for pinning and just give it the consolidation I take it? Just asking b/c I saw a YT video in which the guy ensured you should wait for pinning, I was wondering if guys now recommend this.

Munchauzen said: I don't like the look of the first plate at all. that wispy, scraggly growth coming from the center isn't normal. there is probably something meshed into that culture. third plate is overgrown. I can see it looks like you swabbed it but its grown out too much and everything has come together it looks like. with spore plates, you can take transfers anytime. I usually transfer from spores just a few days after germination.
transfers you could take from the 2nd plate

Those whispy little "hairs" started growing out of that chunk before the ring of mycelium and kinda grow up above the surface of the agar. In the picture it looks flat but it's mostly reaching up toward the lid. When you say something might be meshed with it, what do you mean? Like it just brought a contaminate along with it? I followed a tek and used a flamed scalpel to scrape it from the inside of a stipe I opened in my SAB, so if that's the case I'll have to try to go back over all my sterile technique and figure out where I'm making a mistake.

Oh crap guys, I've been meaning to ask but couldn't remember over and over for the life of me..
When I dunk/roll/begin to fruit these cakes, do I start the 12h on/off light cycle immediately, or once I see pinning?
Also, what if some mushrooms are bigger than others in the cake; like what if the veil breaks on some but not others? Do I pick them all and dry them all, or just the ready ones? Should this be an issue. Mush appreciated guys <3 ty for all the help

Imo slurrying is an unnecessary step that has the potential to become a vector. Good ol G2G is very fast as it is and safer. Not worth it to make a slurry just to shave off a little time... the risks outweigh the benefits imo.

What's the most flushes you guys have gotten off a tub? I got one that's working on it's 10th flush and looks healthy as fuck still and is still giving somewhat worthwhile flushes.

Thanks, man. So, if I pick them as they mature, I might have to run my dehydrator many times rather than just a few times, correct? I don't want to leave the mushrooms that are picked sitting out while waiting for others to mature.
In which case, if it's only a small amount of mushrooms at a time, do you know an ideal temperature/length to get them perfectly cracker dry? Perhaps I'll throw in a silica packet to be safe.

Man this doesn’t make sense to me why my wbs jar has maggots in it... I pc grain for 2 hr 20 min (no prep wbs). Let cool in front of my flowhood noced with LI made from clean plate . Used the thick kind of ez felt for filter on metal jar lid that’s tightened tight as fuck . Idk how they could have got in unless the filter magically doesn’t filter out fly eggs - please help

Gotta be a filter hole. There are some really tiny flies out there.

I would advise against it unless your spawn is remarkably clean.

Are they alive? I'd love a pic.
Either a bad lid or a fly got in during the pour

The filter was brand new . First time in use with this jar. I did poke my hole so that the metal goes up towards the filter . Maybe it slightly poked it but I can’t tell . Just a lil brown from rust . I did have like 2 tiny ass flys in my flowhood room I remember buzzing around my ring light. Maybe that’s what did it. It’s just like a 1 in a million chance that the fly would have flown in my lid I’m quick on open/closing lids . It could have got in the LI now that I think of it cuz I just take that lid off and don’t hold it while I pour into receiving jars

Oh gross that’s a full sized little bastard.
I had some in a shoebox before I think from fruit flies. They were tiny like barely visible and if they hadn’t been moving against a dark background I wouldn’t have noticed
