I didn't think they would grow at all. They were just blobs at first. It's crazy. There was one that was 4 mushrooms combined at the caps.
Wonder what caused it. It's a pretty reliable clone. Its agar2Grain2grain again. Maybe one out of the 5qt (or 6qt but I think it was 5qts) of spawn was bad? That would mess up the rest right? Maybe cleaning supply? Microban?
Besides that I use alcohol and bleach.

Does anybody here filter there agar to get a clearer product. If I don’t filter it to some degree there’s just too much sediment it seems like. If you do how or what do you use?

I use two layers of cheese cloth as a filter. I tightly wrap it over the big end of a funnel and pour the media through it into my bottle. It works ok. There is still some sediment.

I've found the hippie organic stuff on amazon leaves next to no residue, while the telephone shit from china leaves a good deal of sediment. shouldn't be surprised about that.

I have some Landor trading company stuff that is unopened and I'm curious about how much sediment it has. In the past I've used NOW and telephone brand. The telephone stuff had way more sediment for sure.

Unfiltered should still give you clear agar. I dont like filtering agar.I feel filtering messes with the end products nute %. Although I'm probably wrong.
Cold water. Lme+agar. Sit it in the fridge for awhile before pcing. Use COLD water. There's a reason you use cold water when baking..

Yeah that’s what I was also thinking. I’ve been just mostly running through a ultra fine mesh metal strainer and it really only pics up big sediment. I will boil my agar for a couple Minutes before straining so I don’t think there much nutes staying behind in the sediment I pick up. I just like the way crystal clear agar looks especially when your doing swabs.

Just picked up a couple paint strainers from sherwin Williams and I’ll double triple layer those sometimes when I want really clear agar.

How's it going guys? I have roughly 7 jars of 1/4 pint (4 oz) BRF cakes, and I was wondering if a 70qt SGFC would be compatible? I could also go smaller, like 27 quarts, but the 70 qt is easier to find.
I know these are small cakes, will a large fruiting chamber, like 70 qts, be too large? Will it require more misting?
Much appreciated guys

You want your sgfc packed. Like jammed packed. 7 cakes in a 70qt tub is a huge waste. Go for 30-40qt.
Or make more cakes.

Thanks homie. Should holes still be 2" apart at that size?

Yes.
You can also use the humidity chamber. Sgfc is more of a standard.

I hate sgfcs because you gotta make a lot of cakes for it to be worth it

Appreciate it my man. Just bought a 32 qt tub, can't wait to implement. Oh should I use less perlite since it's a smaller tub? Like 2-3" instead of 4-5" or does that not matter.

has anyone used RO water for mixing sub? Pretty soon I'm only going to have access to well water and I'm not too stoked about it. Going to run an RO system with UV.
