Yep. Run it on a GFCI or something protected if you don't trust the wiring or fuses (if there even are any in this thing).

Does anyone think liquid inoculate would stall in grains because the plate that was used is a month or so old with pins on it

Probably not, but if I wasn't going to pc for 7 hrs I'd leave them in the strainer to continue drying. I can't see a reason to jar them up before you need to, but it wouldn't be a problem as long as they're properly dried.

I slurried it 4 days ago the myc is barley jumping off the pieces of agar
I thought maybe cuz it’s an old plate it got tired, slow or something. Idk
Not really a big deal just was curious about using old plates
But the grains were a no prep run with oats . So that could be an issue also.

& jb I just wanted to make room to strain new oats cuz it takes me a while to dry em. and the only containers I have for the grain are the jars. I ended up runing  out of propane during my pc run so that 6-7 hr wait turned into over night . Hopefully there still good to pc

I’ve been using Blenderless LI. Every time I do I think it has failed until day 6-7 when all the sudden there is myc everywhere. Then it thickens up over the next 3-4 and then good to go. This has been consistent every time so far. Maybe you’re still ok

When you guys boil your grains do you stir? My rye tends to settle at the bottom and I feel like it’s not hydrating very evenly. I feel like I’m accidentally crushing the grain against the pot when I stir though

Wagwan cult.
I've got a jar that I suspect is bacterial and just want to check. It's APE, my first attempt at it and my grain master looks like it has a giant mashmallow growing inside. There's no signs of mold or metabolites, I mean it could be super tomentose growth but please give me your opinions.

It's the jar or the right, the one on the left is just a random Thai I have going.

Looks bacterial to me. See how it looks kinda ice creamy and the wet spots?

Ah, I suppose I knew that really. Balls, alot of my jars have these wet spots right now.

I'm finding it so hard to get rid of the little halos on my agar transfers at the minute, it was 33°C here yesterday. I was getting emotional at work thinking about my tubs😭

I mean I don’t think wet spots mean its DEFINITELY contaminated but when bacteria is present it can cause wet spots to appear. The creamy appearance is almost definitely a dead giveaway though lol.

I’ve heard sometimes that myc will grow into the agar and give that clear leading edge. No idea if that’s what you’ve got going on rn but just a thought haha

I think the moisture might be due to a new grain prep ive been trying, still needs tuning. The creamy texture tho, ya I can't explain that so we'll go with bacteria. Back to agar then.

I've heard that too but there's a lot of conflicting info on it. I mean I can see hyphae in the halos but then again quite a few people on here say that halos are definately bacterial.

My two older cultures have no halos but my 3 new ones, germinated this summer do.

take this information as you will.......but,

i just returned mine as i had the same problem so i got the cuismax 1500watt and it never got my 21qt canner to temperature. so heres the shit thing about hot plates and stoves........a standard 7 !/2 inch stove top burner puts out around 2200 watts and unfortunately the only hot plate style burners only go to 1500w you can get industrial ones that will get to 1800w but they cost alot and are hard to find. and i know my pressure canner to stay at 15 psi for 2hrs it is at the max temperature on the largest burner on my stove untill the last maybe 30 minutes so youll need that full 2200watts too get a large 21qt of larger pot to the desired 15 psi.
the problem is wattage so Most modern residential circuits are 15A, so we're looking at a max load of (15A x 120V =) 1800 watts so anything over 1800 watts your blowing breakers thats why your stove is hooked to a 240v designated plug to the fuse panel so it can support upwards of 6000watts depending on the fuze size.

my advice...you wont like this but.........ditch the induction get an electric coil top stove or get a smaller pressure cooker for the 1500watt hot plate.

How it looks to you? Problem Nr1 have cooked without pressure cooker don't have one know but will soon.

Problem Nr2: i shot to much 3,5 ml of my Spore Syringe in 1 jar total 10ml for 3 jar.

No Agar i need to learn what are the best easy method without to much stuff to buy? Tomorrow i will make 3 new Jars this time with a Silicone Spot for my Syringe working sterile as possible. I have 10ml left in my Syringe what you will do with that guys?

You're wasting your syringe by shooting it into grains, you're making things worse given that they haven't been pc'd. Make up some brf cakes. They can be steam sterilized in a pot and have been done hundreds of thousands of times by people with some measure of success. What you are doing right now will surely result in failure.

Yeah it’s weird like that, I don’t know if everyone else experiences that or not.

I haven’t g2g any of them yet. I’ve been doing the no prep and using LI so the jars don’t have that real clean look that I like for g2g. They may be fine but I’ve just been going for speed since I already have plates ready to dump in the next jar of sterilized water.

Anybody ever try the transparent micropore tape?
It says breathable and water resistant.
