I figure the culture would be almost contam free and really clean since it’s been in a jar with a verm barrier. If you guys recommend doing this. What’s the best approach. Do I place the hole mushroom on the agar plate or what.
Totally possible, and a great idea! It won't be contam free, but definitely pretty clean. Inside your SAB, open the jar, carefully dump out some of the verm. Flame a pair of tweezers (or you can dig with a scalpel), and dig the pin out, place the whole thing on a plate. It'll take a transfer or two to be sure it's clean, but worth it!

Use Fooman's WBS tek, it's about the same time as oats (except you strain/dry them for an hour, and if you're neurotic like me and skim all the floaties off). Boil water, while water is boiling rinse+strain, turn heat off, dump WBS in, wait 45 minutes, strain for an hour, load, PC for 2 hours.
Although shit after mushboy's soak prep suggestion, i'm going to have to try that out. A lot less work. Tbh, I've only used WBS once, but so far so great. Oats can go fuckemselves!

20min? Enough to drain excess water. Check out my link..
Do you still rinse and strain out floaters like in your tek or have you found the soak and 20 min dry enough?

How far do you let your all's plates grow before taking a wedge and/or poke for an LC?

Whenever I’m ready I’ll grab a piece.
I’ve used fully grown plates and then some two days after making a t1 plate when I could see clean growth.

Ya I rinse and skim. Skimming is easy. But i rinse outside with a large screen and a garden hose. The write up is more for small batch prep. Rinsing 50lbs of wbs in a sink is not a good idea unless you enjoy millet in ever nook and cranny of your life.

I have two questions about some agar plates I know this is contaminated but I was curious if anyone here knew what it is contaminated with because I have seen this happen before. The first two pictures are psilocybe W. subseco which looked fine and white before the transfer. I know I always flame the shit outa the scalpel so it must have been something but thing is you can see it’s only attacking the mycelium and not feeding off the agar which is strange to me. Anyone have any ideas.
And just this other strange spot I have on two germ plates. I thought it was myc at first and when it was smaller it did look like myc.

Also I use an SAB with iso washed gloves.

I literally sift WBS in the living room and rinse all up in the kitchen sink. Never had much issue that a quick run with the dyson wouldn’t fix.

Soak overnight-24hrs. Drain. Jar up. PC. Done.

No shaking over multiple days. You guys must have massive forearms. Come over to my house and shake 6 boxes of jars multiple times for 3days.
Not tryna to be a dick I just dont see the point or how it saves time
I only have to shake once with 175 or 150ml water. And it’s less of a hassle because there’s only one step. Put in jars. Lol
No soaking for however long. No fizzy stink pot if you forget you’re soaking, no skimming floaters or rinsing this or that. Load jars, add water, PC, shake. Inoculate
You do you but I’ll do me better.

Not trying to rewrite anyone's teks but i just chuck 8quarts in a saucepan and bring to the boil, rinse the debris and starches off with hot water, strain it and jar it. Takes about 45mins to an hour.
I do get a small percentage of burst grains but that's why I rinse after the boil

So I said I will report back after a week but today I realized there are already pins growing.

My next step was to let it soak in distilled water, roll it in Vermiculite and then put it in the box on tinfoil. Should I start with that ? Because the mycelium don't look really ready. It's 2 1/2 weeks now I started

I can’t even get a buzz in this heat right now, it’s literally like 28 C out the other day. I’m dying in anything over 20.

Roger Clemency said: Here’s my no prep for WBS.
275g WBS 150g (or ml) water
The standard 1:2 would mean 137.5g water but I had started at 200 and was stepping my way down and 175 was nice and 150 worked so well I stopped there. I think I will try 135g though because some jars seemed a lil too wet after liquid inoculate (though I was using 20+ml per qt)
Here’s when it first gets out the PC
Here’s what the puck should look like at the bottom - stuck n sticky but not too gross -
And here’s a minute later after the shaking is done -
I’m only on my 4th cycle of no prep but even the 200+g h20 first try jars worked and they were all inoculated with LI as well.
Man bro I Did not share your same success 18 jars trash again Maybe it’s my wbs
