Full colonization is when to get them out. When I did a run of PF it was around a month and half. I noticed when it was fully colonization, the cake had compacted.
Best thing is just don't look at them for the next 3-4 weeks. Handling the jars to much could allow contaminants to break through that vermiculite layer on top.
Good luck.

Post a pic when you suspect that the cake is fully or very close to being colonized all over. Keep in mind that when the cake is fully colonized it will contract and some loose verm from the top layer may fall and stick between the cake and the inside of the glass making it look like the top half of the cake is uncolonized due to the fully colonized caked being hidden behind the uncolonized verm that has trickled down from the top. 2-4 weeks are normal colonization times. I have a friend who plants them from time to time. I've never watched him do it, but they like full sun and need sunlight to germinate iirc.

This is the colonization of a Cambonian shoe box I spawned a while back.

And here we are with the Ecuadorian shoe box i spawned about a week ago.

The growth of the mycelium is just so different. Is this common?
Extra info: These two grows were done exactly alike to the T except for inoculation on grain. The Cambodian was a 1st generation grain jar inoculated with MS syringe. The Ecuadorian was 2nd generation grain to grain from agar.
Cambodian Grow Log
Ecuadorian Grow Log
The thumbprints look like difference in phenotypes, but zooming in the Ecuadorian looks bacterial.

I've done a little research and saw that I should germinate them in a warm window with a lot of sun in a starter tray, then transplant to bigger indoor pots to grow the roots, then to something like a garden bed with a soil that is conducive. Ive got the wood and would totally build a little square bed, I'm just looking for germination parameters and type of soil mixture they like. Ive tried searching the forums here and alot on Google but can't fine anything real solid. I was thinking about germinating in a tray with top soil, then transplanting to little plastic pots and the plant at the beginning of spring to let them flower into the summer. Really can't find any info, if anyone has any li KS to good reading itd be great. I just want to add some pretty annuals and maybe some good opium tea every fall or something

I've got some spore solution inoculated jars that have sprouted mycelium at 12 days on a popcorn tek with coffee grounds and corn syrup, (a few jars sprouted that day and a few more the next day), should I let them rest in their bin for days at a time or should I open it daily to encourage gas exchange? Should I fan it? (I know they don't need fresh air exchange (oxygen) yet while in jars, just for fruiting).

At this stage you need do nothing to your jars. Leave them be and just check every few days for any contamination as growth progresses. Welcome to shroomery

Thank you for your input, I don't know what to look for when it comes to contamination post spawning. As far as the recognizing and dealing with contamination sticky, the jars of grain looked good. Smelled of only mushrooms and the boxes now still only smell of mushrooms. Smell is the only sense I can apply myself here but I have read bacteria can male it past the smell test so it is not definite. Here are a few more pictures that may help. Is there anything particular I should look for to notice a bacterial infection?

Get into agar and isolating mycelium to get a good culture then do grains to monotubs.
