Axenic, I like it. So if good, 3 week old coir shouldn’t be a problem. Wicked.

I'd love to learn how to make clean spawn. I've got an epic flowhood and thousands of hours of experience fucking shit up at this point. I've read pretty much everything of value on this site and am far from lazy or dogmatic about stuff. If I make a thread would you mind tagging along and helping me troubleshoot things Pasty? I'm willing to try anything at this point and I'll be diligent about tracking things and logging everything for you or anyone else with experience that's willing to help to see and diagnose. Been having crazy problems for years now. I'm thinking of learning the guitar so I can write sad songs about all the contamination I've seen, and the one particular shade of green that fucks everything I do these days..

Then why would anyone bother? I've ran my own 2 experiments on my own and nothing worthwhile, one was some shallow dishes and pc'd coir and straw as the casing. Tiny fruits, 4 flushes before I just buried it.
The other one I ran I tried pasteurizing solely coir as casing. It triched out, but I'm chalking that up to an outbreak in another bag, but it's my second time, so I really don't know.
Any direction or advice would be great

You don’t need me hovering over your shoulder but you should make a thread and the community as a whole can help. I’m not some infallible authority.

Yeah bro just temp I’m gonna grab some 7x3 stainless steel tables hopefully tomorrow . And bolt my ffu down to it via L bracket or liquid nail it so I don’t put holes in the unit. Should be ready to roll this weekend
But I use them crates at shelves for my grow room u think a simple spray with bleach water would kill mold spores or should I detail out all the lil crevices

Ah I see now they are plastic shelves. Gah I hate those type of shelves they have sharp edges that cut bags all over the place and there are some holes that are actually cups that hold whatever falls into them.
I have two of them and cover each shelf with a sheet of corrugated plastic sheet (like yard sign material, aka coroplast)
lexan/polycarbonate also makes a great work table surface but dont use plexiglass/acrylic it will melt when you put a hot cooker on it.
Also make sure to get a rack to work on plates you dont want to pour or work plates at table level much backwash.

Bro I literally just seen you post this

You need to lift that rack up several more inches. The bottom of a flowhood is full of turbulence that brings a backwash of contaminated air alllllllllll the way up on the bottom.
i can show you with a particle counter how bad the bottom of a flowhood is.
Never work on plates that close to the bottom anyone reading this.
When you first described your problems to me it sounded like you have trichaderma/penicillium/whatever green mold that has gone myco-parasite on your mycelium. I don't know what cubesnsis mycelium looks like when this has occurred. No one probably does because you need a scanning electron microscope to see the interaction. Here is an interesting article on similar
The interaction pics are towards the bottom.
But your plates etc don't really look very off or anything, for the most part at least.
Lift that rack up.
Thanks for sharing all the solid info playa Im gonna clean then plastic up these shelves I like em cheap and easy to use

Wheat can just be soaked in water for around 12-24 hours IMO

Natedawg has a good one imo. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26326713
I really wanna try out rye and wheat. Cant find any feed store around here with it. I may have to call and ask, cause all I've checked is their stock online.

Wheat and rye basically have the same prep. Just make sure to check your grain hydration levels as underhydrated rye/wheat is rampant round here
Both benefit from a hard boil for suresees

You can just dump it in a pot of water, heat to boiling. stir occaisonally, should be done after boiling for 25ish minutes.
