Could you wick water into a monotub sub like you can with potted plants?
So you'd have a vessel of water next to your mono with a wick coming from it and into the substrate. The idea being that as moisture in the sub gets used it will pull more moisture from the water vessel into the sub, I think via osmosis...
Actually, let me rephrase. Could you do it without it becoming a complete faff?

wouldn't it be easier to just start off with the right moisture content?
Vs super dry and then using some configuration to auto wick back to the sub? Cause even then, wouldn't it be simpler to just bottom water if needed?

Absolutely, I normally get two wicked flushes and a crap one without ever misting.
Tbh this was just an idea that popped into my head whilst watering the plants. I was musing over the idea of feeding a sub more grain and coir. Thus perpetuating it's life span. And then this popped up into my head as an alternative to bottom watering.
Not trying to reinvent the wheel, just daydreaming.

What's up with the tape on the tub? And the paper towels?

Oh great thanks!
The black tape below is for later so there is no light from the sight. The holes are taped with tea bag filter and the paper towel is there because I think that last time a fruit fly got through the tiny gap between box and the cover. The paper towel is supposed to close this little gap.

Light is beneficial and taping the tub won't prevent side pins or anything like that.

Does it have a wiring diagram anywhere on it? Open up the box and check in there too for the diagram. If not, may be able to find it in a user manual. At first glance though, it looks really similar to hooking up a blower for a flow hood.

The red white and black were cut off from that switch. You probably should hire an electrician to wire it up for you.

Ah I didn't realize that was the backside of the switch. Is there a good reason someone would do that?

Would this be the wiring diagram?
& sandman you don’t think I can order a new switch? Or simply shave off some plastic so I can get to the wires

I'm having a hard time coming up with why someone would do that instead of just pulling them out...I was trying to find some wiring diagrams but I could only find ones for the 3 speed not the 2 speed.
