Uh except shroomerintherye was asking about the best way to do shoeboxes, including putting them in monos which pasty recommended and I agreed with.

You think I came in here to just say monos are awesome derr
But if you followed the thread, not your tek thread from 3 years ago but this thread, you would know that I was simply agreeing that monos are better than just a lidded shoebox for head space and bigger shrooms.
You need to take a chill pill brah

I think you should go back and re read my post. I even said I dont know if shoeboxes perform the same as monos because of water availability etc and said if my clones do perform the same, then no a lidded shoebox is not enough, thus agreeing with pasty that putting them in a mono is the best idea.
Not that hard to understand. Pics were to show big shrooms that definitely wouldnt fit in a shoebox with no head room.

This is my LC that just came out the PC. 700 ml water 7g LME. I'm forever being hunted by sediment... I even used a hand blender on high settings with medium heat to mix thoroughly...or so I thought.

7g of lme for 700ml?
Try 2 or 3g per 700ml
I prefer 1g per 250ish ml

If you’re concerned about sediment this is the only method that consistently produces crystal clear LC for me. It’s weird and different but it also works like a charm.

Doesn't look great for 2 weeks in.
I see some popped/burst grains in there so I'm not sure that it's too dry. Could be bacteria or something but either way 2 weeks to get that much growth is a bad sign

They look hydrated in the pic but they sound dry when I shake them. My last run of jars went way faster than this. I think I might dump them and make newer ones and boil them for longer and wait until i see more burst grains than this. The millet seems dry too.
I'm glad I went g2g atleast I have 35 that are all almost done, I cooked those more too and no issues. I will eventually get it dialed tho. I know its not the culture.

I dont understand how you do that and get the moisture content right. I would think they were gonna be too dry doing that. I've been soaking over night and then bringing up to a simmer in a pot then draining it and loading into jars. Then I forgot one day and left it on the stove and came back to it boiling. I used it anyway and saw quicker colonization and have just been doing it like that since.
I need an easier grain to work with. Something that is quick and easy to prep.

My favorite is rye & millet. Easy prep. Load x amount grain and x amount water in quart jar and pressure cook. That easy. You can do that with wbs too but I dont know the specifics

Buried the spent substrate from a shoebox grow in my plant's soil 2 weeks ago. I totally forgot about it until I checked today:

It's also interesting that they're leucistic. I haven't seen that before.

Whenever I have burst grains like that it’s too hydrated initially and doesn’t go well. The first time I thought I made it too dry it was perfect. Looks like we have the same seed, I soak it about 14 hours by dumping boiling water in the bucket and just leaving it. Then I spread it out on a screen for a couple hours until the top of the seed piles are dry. Then mix it all up with the wetter stuff underneath and load it. I try to have no burst grains now.
This is how mine looks when I get the best results

Hey y’all quick question:
How can I roughly measure agar without a scale? Mine grew legs and left me and I need to pour plates today. I was thinking using a table spoon? I use a 500ml media bottle and have usually used 7g agar+10g lme. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this measured? It obviously isn’t too important to be completely accurate I just don’t want to waste agar by fucking it up the first time, breads real tight rn.

Take a pencil, find center, tie a string around the center, then use a nickel (5grams) on one end in a baggie and put your agar on the other side of the pencid equidistant from the center in a baggie of equal size and when the pencil evens out you have 5g of agar in the bag. Repeat for 10g total
