This is yet another sterilized manure substrate doing just fine..

No pasteurization here. Even tho I understand the concept of pasteurization Im becoming a skeptic the more of these I'm doin. The tubs in my sig are all sterilized manure grows.

Cool.

I almost wonder if it even matters. Strong, fast and clean cultures can colonize a sub super quick. Before mold can even do anything?

It's a cool concept fo sho.

Maybe thats what it is all my substrates usually are fully colonized within a week and I dont spawn anything over 1/3 spawn to sub. The culture im working with is really good and clean too.

I sterilized manure for pans with no problem but I just assumed it was because the pan myc basically runs the sub overnight.

Cronicr did that thread about untreated manure grows too.

weird thing:

LC was poured on 6/29

Poured a bunch of LC from a media bottle I made it in over about 24 jars.

Most of the jars were oats, and 6 were wheat.

the wheat recovered after 24hrs, and they were 100% in about 8 days, the oats are just starting to get to 30% 2 weeks or so later, some haven't even really fuzzed yet.

I opened a couple oat jars to see if I'd be met with that sour sock smell, and notta. Smelled like...oats

some jars are close to 100% now, and the growth looks "normal" for oats ( asking girly to send me a pic now )

I still think its a bacteria thing and I failed on prep with the oats, but its just odd. I might spawn one of the quarts to see, but for LC noced jars going on 14 days its not promising

pics:

100% jar looking "normal" (all same quart)

Slow jars (different quarts)

Obviously(?) bacterial jar

Could someone recommend me a thick aluminium foil to use as medium for spore printing? The one I normally use isn't sold at my local store anymore :frown:

So now knowing poo wont give any extra yield as I thought it would what about wood sawdust or wood chips I know cubes arent wood lovers but can they still get more nutrients from it if I added wood into the sub would it increase the yield is there anything I can add into the sub to increase the yield?

Clone for best genetics and have really clean spawn.

Cubes will colonize and fruit off wood substrates but the performance is dogshit. Nutrients come from the grain not the bulk sub. Bulk subs supplies water and some trace nutrients of imagine.

There might be things to help increase the yield but I’ve never seen anything effective. Use more spawn, make more tubs, find a good clone or isolate that produces. I don’t know what more someone could want out of a sub than a full canopy lol. Cubes are like weeds already.

I had this theory so u all know dog food agar is really nutritious anyway I was thinking of dissolving a bunch into water and then hydrating the grain with that and hoping the grain absorbes the nutrient dense water and hopefully it will give a bigger yield for the same amount of grain considering it wouldnt be that much work to boil some dog food has anyone ever done something like this?

Ive boiled grain with hpoo water.  No noticeable yield increase.  If u need to use snake oik to get bigger yields your doing something wrong or your culture just sucks

No I'm happy with the yields but I'm greedy and if there is a way I can easily yield more than y not right

If you doubt the grain is where the real nutes are supplied then do a controlled grow with manure, worm castings, chixpoo, or whatever, at a 1:8 spawn ratio and then do a coir grow with a 1:3 ratio. Should be obvious. Mushrooms are decomposers not plants, they don’t need a lot of supplied nutrients. The grain does 99% of the lifting as far as nutes are concerned. Add a couple cups of coffee to your grain soak water and that’s pretty much all they need. In fact too much nutrition can be a bad thing, leads to longer pin times, mutants, increases vectors, etc.

If you want big fruits and yields you need to focus on your culture, it’s ability to move water, and supplying that water at a perfect capacity. Clean spawn helps a lot too. Slightly bacterial spawn takes little bites out of your BE and while you’re still pulling fruit, it’s less than you should.

can anyone quickly debunk my thought that the LC got trapped in the hulls and thats why they are so slowed down?

all I ever use is unhulled... shot some LC into five quarts of oats four days ago, the 'sweat' just appeared last night.  But this culture is fast as fuck when it gets started... ordering some slants next week, don't ever want to lose this culture  :greenshroom:
