Well you guys kept talking about it so I just checked it out.
I don’t think she was a cop but I’m always super suspicious when people post their face, especially when they happen to be a super hot chick.
Either way somebody’s locked up somewhere. Jail, basement, who knows.

First monotub and got small mushrooms, what is the most likely cause? I'm fairly certain it's not genetics, as I also spawned a shoebox from the same master jar that grew larger more normal looking fruits. The main difference between the two was the spawn to sub ratios, with the shoebox at a 1:1, monotub at 1:2 spawn to sub ratio.
My coir may have been over field capacity, is it safe to assume over hydration was the main culprit?
Thanks

i think so, over-field capacity sub is known to cause small shroomies

Small muahrooms with dark caps and wavy edges are sure sign of over saturated sub.

Thanks guys, anybody know why that is?
Given too little moisture I can see why it would grow smaller mushrooms(90% water,) but why would the mycelium choose to do so given too much moisture? Does the extra water force the mycelium to spend energy elsewhere, or is there some other mechanism at play?

Your shrooms look healthy and not overwatered. Looks like strain traits and nothing more. What strain are you growing? Im gonna guess Burma.

Doesn’t over hydration cause small caps too? I had a bacterial Burma tub put out almost identical mushrooms before. My first thought was too wet at first too though so idk.

Bound2Grow is a babe. She used to have a selfie as her avatar. Hope shes OK
But thats for another thread
Yes, overhydration does cause smaller shrooms, same with too high of a humidity, at least in my experienece.

Supposedly the variety is golden teacher. Here's a picture of the shoebox I was talking about. Same master jar and spawned at the same time. I gotta work on getting closer to proper field capacity I guess(from the same batch of coir too, I guess it's just because the monotub had more coir to spawn.)

I know NOT pasteurizing your casing layer is becoming a standard these days. Here's an example to always pasteurize your casing layer.
Only the lower 1/4 or so was unpasteurized. It didn't turn green or anything but was eaten by mycelium a lot more than the pasteurized, and loses its moisture a lot better. Pasteurized part definitely better pinning conditions.

So anyone who uses blended li frequently, would a fully colonized 100mm plate be enough for a qt jar of li? I'm trying to knock about 40 jars and muda bottles.

your sentences were a little mixed up... what was better?... because you said "the mycellium eats the unpasteurized faster, then you said the pasteurized has a better pin-set.
Edit: and I apologize, thought you were a noob- didn't see the user info on the side til after

I have a modded blender and have done it many times... that would not be enough for a qt jar imo... maybe a pint.

Exactly, mycelium shouldn't eat thru a true casing layer. A true casing keeps a micro climate but doesn't get eaten like coir does. Pasteurized is better, IMO.

Coir is more easily digested when cooked.
Quote:
Pastywhyte said: Coir may be a source of cellulose but, that cellulose is also bound up in lignin. Lignin is difficult for many species to break down, and is also why I suspect we need to cook the coir in the first place; it allows the agaricales to break through the lignin to get to the cellulose.
I wonder if the reason for the quicker growth is similar to why myc runs faster on lower nute agar.
